Publisher's summary

Book 3 in the series. In an ancient tunnel underneath New York City a charnel house is discovered. Inside are 36 bodies all murdered and mutilated more than a century ago. While FBI agent Pendergast investigates the old crimes, identical killings start to terrorize the city. The nightmare has begun. Again.

Clever Special Agent Pendergast

Would you listen to The Cabinet of Curiosities again? Why?

No, I enjoyed it but it wasn't great.

What did you like best about this story?

The mystery. I also liked learning a little about the cabinets of curiosity.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

I did not like the narrator. His voice bothered me and his various voices were not that good.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

You never know what you'll find.

Clearly getting better

The first two are interesting and this is the first one that it seems the pieces are starting to come together that make a worthwhile series.

Audio Editing Issues

Any additional comments?

Several times while listening the audio repeats itself. Seems to be an issue with editing that needs to be resolved.

Need to proofread audio version of book

The audible version of this book has at least half a dozen locations where it repeats about 30 seconds of itself. This needs to be corrected. Otherwise a great and suspenseful book.

Nothing is as it seems

After a seemingly slow beginning, the mystery becomes more and more intriguing, and you will be more and more engaged in solving it. An overall excellent Pendergast adventure that's very well narrated by Jonathan Marosz.

Most Curious

Probably my favorite Pendergast book. Read many years ago and loved it. Just finished audiobook and love it even more.

I liked it.

I liked the twist at the end.
But there are several chapterswhen the same paragraph is repeated. that was annoying.

I look forward to each book in this series. The characters are interesting and the story always fascinating. I love the way I am kept guessing and usually am surprised. Loved it!

Still scares me!

I've listened to this book many times and it still scares the heck out of me. Preston and Child are fabulous writers. Can't get enough!
