INSPIRATION FOR THE ORIGINAL SERIES THE LINCOLN LAWYER—THE #1 TV SHOW ON NETFLIX

Defense attorney Mickey Haller and Detective Harry Bosch must either work together or die as they investigate a Hollywood lawyer's murder in this "epic page-turner" (Library Journal).

Things are finally looking up for defense attorney Mickey Haller. After two years of wrong turns, Haller is back in the courtroom. When Hollywood lawyer Jerry Vincent is murdered, Haller inherits his biggest case yet: the defense of Walter Elliott, a prominent studio executive accused of murdering his wife and her lover. But as Haller prepares for the case that could launch him into the big time, he learns that Vincent's killer may be coming for him next.

Enter Harry Bosch. Determined to find Vincent's killer, he is not opposed to using Haller as bait. But as danger mounts and the stakes rise, these two loners realize their only choice is to work together.

Critic reviews

"The Brass Verdict has the sneaky metabolism of any Connelly book. It starts slowly, moves calmly, hides pertinent bits of information in plain sight and then abruptly ratchets up its energy for the denouement....In the midst of this new story, Mickey rebounds with a vengeance....Like Harry Bosch's mojo, Mickey Haller's is liable to work well for a long time."—Janet Maslin, New York Times
"Connelly is firing on all cylinders in this epic page-turner. The intriguing story line, the chance to view Bosch from another perspective, and Haller's reappearance as a main character add up to a fantastic read. One of the best thrillers of the year."—Jeff Ayers, Library Journal
"The answer to every Connelly fan's dream: Hieronymus Bosch meets the Lincoln Lawyer....By turns wary, competitive, complementary, cooperative and mutually predatory....Connelly brings his two sleuths together in a way that honors them both"—Kirkus Reviews

“Everyone lies “.

LA lawyer inherited a thriving law practice with one high profile murder case at the forefront after his lawyer friend was murdered. As the defense lawyer for the accused, his discoveries lead him to more questions than answers. The accused adamantly professes his innocence in the homicide of his wife and her lover. In Hollywood “many of the best actors “ are behind the cameras so observes the defense lawyer. Who is lying and what are they hiding becomes the twisting turning story. Did not quess the ending.

Really liked this one. Couple of twists especially at the end. I really like using Harry Bosch.

I miss the reader for Lincoln lawyer

The new reader is fine, but I do miss the original reader for the Lincoln lawyer

Good story

Well written and well read. There did seem to be a gap at the end of the next to last chapter--the court session was just beginning to resume, and suddenly the main character is back at his house...otherwise, I enjoyed the story.

Connelly at His Best!

I love Connelly and his ability to tell a story and keep you on the edge of your seat. The narration by Giles is TERRIBLE. His ability to use different inflections for the other characters voices is very distracting. The story is well written so that makes up for the narration.

Character and story help another great Haller book

Lincoln Lawyer, from a modern-day noir mystery stand point was fantastic. It was simple to read, yet complex in all the ways that count. Conflicted characters and unclear motives. This adheres to the same great principles. Michael Haller is a great character to focus these stories around and his cast of supporting characters are wonderful in their own right. The plot is fast paced and exciting, and the twists and turns are surprising without being contrived. The backdrop of Los Angeles is one of Connelly's biggest assets and he makes the city a character in its own right. If I had one dissenting note, it's that I feel like the internal journey taken by Haller (in terms of where he begins as a person and where he ends as a person), are very similar to Lincoln Lawyer. All in all, however, this was another great read for crime/mystery fans.

Very good

This is the 2nd book of this series. I enjoyed the 1st book but it was a little slow in the beginning. This book picks up in the first few pages. still a good listen but I have the same complaint as I did in the 1st one. The main character is constantly facing one problem after another and continues to blame himself. I don't see where he should carry so many faults.

Great Sequel

I was excited to see a follow-up book to The Lincoln Lawyer. And, I was not disappointed. Enthralled. I could not put it down. The storyline was crisp and gripping. Onward to the next in the series!

I am in love with this new character

All I can say is, I am hooked. Michael Connelly has given Robert Dugoni a run for his money. I thought Dugoni was the best with legal thrillers and dramas, but this series won me over in big way. It draws you in and doesn’t let go. I listen to this Audible in two days and I have never done a two day lesson before. If I didn’t have important things to do, I would listen to the book again, but I am going to listen to the next book in the series. I love the series.
