Washington, London and Peking - terror sweeps the globe. The Vice-Premier of the People's Republic has been brutally murdered by a legendary assassin and everyone is asking the same fearful questions: Why has Bourne come back? Who is paying him? Who is next on his death list? But US officials know the shocking truth: there is no Jason Bourne. There never was. Firstly the book and movie are almost separate entities and seeing/reading one should not exclude doing the other. The book is nicely structured with a rare level of dramatic irony playing out believably. The narration is good, creating different personalities for each character allowing for conversations with multiple characters to be easily followed but not pulling you out of the story with some over dramatic tone or accent. The story tends to be quite intense though and a fair level of concentration is required to follow the diverse number of characters.
An excellent continuation from the Bourne Identity as Jason hunts down his imitator........the major from MI6 proved to be a fascinating addition to the overall plot.
Passionate about reading, listening and widening my comprehension of the world. My favourite sentence: we have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak.
It's a nice reading
the asian characters are very well represented: the accent and the way of speaking is perfect
actually, the book didn't move me; personally I prefer the first book
The story is told just as riveting as reading it when I did. really enjoyed this.
It is just a well told story with many twists and turns that make sense. If you like the political thriller with intrigue, you will love it.
great again, only Marie's accent not quiet there but it is a women's voice so that is understandable.
I could feel my anticipation and 'edge of seat' tension many times through out.
Highly recommend if you are a Bourne fan or fan of this genre
This story got better as it went along. It took me a few days to listen to it but so different from the movie. This had more depth.
Another great exciting adventure in the life of Jason Bourne. Well read and a great piece of writing. Most enjoyable.
The book that keeps on giving.
Action from start to finish.
This is my third listen to the series :)
Much much better than the films. And great vocal talents too. Can't wait for the next one to listen to
If you haven't read the trilogy you are missing out!! I've read the books 3 times now and I'm still on the edge of my seat whilst reading them, fantastic writing by Ludlum!
The narrator in this book is undoubtedly superb. But I do ask: why should anyone need a psychiatrist, when they know who and what they are, irrespective of their doubts.
"didn't enjoy as much as the first book"
at times scott brick over-acted but I still enjoy his narration. the story itself didn't help as it didn't seem to be written as well as the 1st in the series. A lot of the story became tedious. If I hear 'C is for Carlos' once more I might scream (sorry)
"Book or film?"
Like any books that are imortalised on the silver screen, people always feel strongly about whether they preferred the book or the film. I, however, enjoyed both. As long as you don't expect the book to mirror the film (or vice versa) you will enjoy the experience. The Bourne books, as with all of the Bond books, do not resemble the films. That being said the book was very enjoyable and full of action. It is well read with the narrator managing to convey the menace and vulnerability of all the different characters. The audio book is also very long, which made it excellent value for my "credit" and as I listen to my audio books whilst in bed, lasted me many nights. If you enjoy Robert Ludlum, action-adventure and complex character plots, this is the book for you.
