Publisher's summary

A PANDEMIC 70,000 YEARS IN THE MAKING WILL CHANGE HUMANITY...FOREVER.

In Marbella, Spain, Dr. Kate Warner awakens to a horrifying reality: the human race stands on the brink of extinction. A pandemic unlike any before it has swept the globe. Nearly a billion people are dead--and those the Atlantis Plague doesn't kill, it transforms at the genetic level. A few rapidly evolve. The remainder devolve.

As the world slips into chaos, radical solutions emerge. Industrialized nations offer a miracle drug, Orchid, which they mass produce and distribute to refugee camps around the world. But Orchid is merely a way to buy time. It treats the symptoms of the plague but never actually cures the disease.

Immari International offers a different approach: do nothing. Let the plague run its course. The Immari envision a world populated by the genetically superior survivors--a new human race, ready to fulfill its destiny.

With control of the world population hanging in the balance, the Orchid Alliance and the Immari descend into open warfare. Now humanity's last hope is to find a cure, and Kate alone holds the key to unraveling the mystery surrounding the Atlantis Plague. The answer may lie in understanding pivotal events in human history--events when the human genome mysteriously changed. Kate's journey takes her across the barren wastelands of Europe and northern Africa, but it's her research into the past that takes her where she never expected to go. She soon discovers that the history of human evolution is not what it seems--and setting it right may require a sacrifice she never imagined.

Don’t bother.

I chose this rating because of the unenthusiastic narrator, the characters are unbelievable, the plot was a lazy and predictable.

This one holds together better.

I can't help but wonder if we could have gotten to the point a little faster in these first two books. This one paces itself better and seems to flow better.

Good reading

This book is as good as the first book. The author kept the story very interesting to the end. Very good strong characters. I am looking forward to reading the next book.

An Incredible Book Series

This is probably one of my favorite book series I have listened to on audible to date. Stephen Bel Davies does a great job narrating the book and you feel like you are in the story. I don't want to spoil the book, but definitely a "page turner" and will keep you up all night listening to the story.

Another Good Read

Kate and David are back as the protagonists and Dorian & the Immari, the antagonists, are still trying to kill everyone. Another good story with lots of intrigue, intersecting characters and storylines. I thought for sure this was the conclusion since half the world is dead from the plague but there is another book. How much more can these people endure? I'm not sure my heart can take it (but of course I will purchase the next book).

Good commuter book.

I enjoyed the book... The story is entertaining and intriguing. The audio does not match the written book exactly but close enough.

very good once you get into it.

The book is highly intellectual and thought provoking especially if you are in to history or science while still being entertaining.

Intriguing

Must give the author credit on creating a very intriguing plot. Excellent! But, the story bounces all over the place and its hard to keep track if your trying to listen to the audio with distractions - so, please give it your full attention. The first half was a bit slow and dry but the second half made up for it ... kind of like sledding, hard walk up the hill but the ride down makes it worth it and I'll try again with book 3 ... just not right away.

Narration is great, story jumps around though

As you get deeper into the book, I feel like it jumps around in the storyline a bit. So, if you are not giving the book 100% of your attention, you can get slightly lost.

Outside of that, the narration is great and the overall story is fantastic. Book 2 of 3 down, time to start 3 (Atlantis World).
