In this First Responders novel, Paramedic Jim Stockbridge responds to an EMS call in the ghetto and finds his best friend brutally stabbed and shot. Consumed with rage he hunts down Sid Drake's killers and renders his own form of justice. But soon Jim finds himself lost, tangling with a vicious street gang and its ruthless warlord, William "J-Rock" Jackson.
And so it begins, a long dark journey that pushes Jim deep into his own personal world of bitterness and revenge, and ultimately to the brink of disaster.
Haunting nightmares ensue. Endless nights. A brutal biker gang nearly kills him. An angry detective wants him behind bars. And Jim's girlfriend, Dr. Valerie Vick, the only woman he's ever truly loved, has just made a painful announcement: She's leaving. Suddenly Jim's entire world seems to be falling apart, but through the leadership of two remarkable men he finds a new relationship with the Lord and new purpose for his life. But Jim's enemy hasn't forgotten him. J-Rock is out for blood...and Jim is his prey.
J-Rock's trap is both elaborate and cruel, and when Jim falls into it, he ends up in a hospital bed with a bullet in his spine, his willpower broken, and his proud spirit crushed. He finally reaches his lowest point and in a moment of quiet desperation cries out to God. And his prayers are heard.
But Jim's ultimate fight is yet to come - a fight to the death on the deck of a sinking boat with Valerie secured in the hold below. Will he succeed? Can he defeat J-Rock once and for all? Can he save the beautiful love of his life from a cold drowning death, and carry the gospel back to the ghetto street where his best friend died? He must, but to do so will require strength he never knew, the kind of God-given power known only to a man who has truly been...Tested By Fire.

As a firefighter I loved the realistic technical aspects of the book. Too often books about firefighters and paramedics are highly inaccurate, however Tested by Fire hit the nail on the head with accuracy and suspense.
Jim Stockbridge. As a firefighter I connected with this paramedic. Being in a similar field of work made him feel like someone I worked with a knew.
He helps bring the characters to life and make it feel more realistic. He did a great job and made it very enjoyable.
Suspense and intrigue at it's finest.
JIM, HE WAS WHAT THE STORY WAS ABOUT, HE WAS THE CENTER OF THE ACTION!
YES, I HAVE LISTENED TO "EXTREME MEASURES' AND "FOR MY BROTHER' BOTH BOOKS WERE ACTION BOOKS AND WELL DONE BY JOSHUA BENNINGTON.
YES, IT WAS HARD TO TURN OFF, I WANTED TO KEEP IT GOING TO THE END.
IT WAS WELL WRITTEN AND NARRATED AND I WOULD RECOMMEND THE AUDIOBOOK.
If I were to sum up Tested by Fire in three words , they would be passion, action and drama
What I liked best about the story was the way the narrator carried you along in the story, I felt like I was there.
I liked the all most romance scenes. Always closed but not never quite there. Keeps you hoping.
The book tells a great story and the narrator takes you on a voyage. I would whole heartily recommend it
I would have to rate "Tested by Fire" as one of the top audio books I have listened to. I particularly liked the narration by Joshua bennington
When Jim's faith is tested
The inner city black characters were done very well by Joshua Bennington
If I had the time I would have loved to have listened to the book non-stop
This was a well written book and performed by a great narrator. We hearty recommend the audio book
TESTED BY FIRE RANKS AT THE TOP OF THE AUDIO BOOK I HAVE LISTENED TO BUT I HAVE ONLY LISTEN TO A HUNDRED OR SO!
A LOT OF ACTION, A LITTLE ROMANCE AND A LOT OF SOUL SEARCHING
WE ALSO LISTENED TO "EXTREME MEASURES", ANOTHER ACTION ROMANCE THAT WAS WELL DONE BY JOSHUA BENNINGTON
YES, AND I DID NOT STOP BETWEEN SOME OF THE CHAPTERS
THIS BOOK COULD BE A MOVIE AND IT CERTAINLY COULD HAVE A SEQUEL
i liked that the story took place down at the water and on the water and in the water
the action never seamed to slow down and i was ready to just keep listening to the book
i liked the fight on the houseboat, the fight at the bar, and the fight jim was having with himself
great story and great narrator
I have already recommended this book to many of my friends and will continue to do so. I found the book very moving and I loved the narration!
Tested by Fire was a very powerful book and the narration Joshua Bennington gave if even more life. The audio book was many times more real than the printed version. It was hard to turn off the narration when I had to leave the car. I did't want to put it down. Great book!!
The audio book gave me a picture of the characters in my mind that far exceeded what I got from reading the book. The voices of the different characters brought them to life for me. I could almost see the characters and they had faces.
What the gangs are like and how they are killing the people around them in more ways than I care to count.
The biker bar. The narrator did it well. I felt like I was there and had seen it.
A medic in a large North Carolina town try's to save everyone but himself.
Very fast, action adventure book you will enjoy.
FAST PACED ACTION
The fight in the inlet between Jim and J-Rock
I liked his portrayal of the clash between Sid and J-Rock in the prologue. And I liked how he treated the dialogue between characters. Switching between male and female characters. He seems to express a lot of emotion in the characters.
I book made me sad because I felt it was to close to reality.
The audiobook was hard to turn off at the end of each chapter. I kept wanting to hear what was going to happen next.
NON STOP ACTION
The action never takes a rest. This book is an action packed adventure story about a medic who is lost and can not get his game together.
Johua bennington did a great job of narrating this book as he has done in another book I read by him and it was sorta like this one..."Extreme Measures".
It is a good read and a life lesson about the belief in Christ and the trust in him
Loved the audio book!!!!
