Publisher's Summary

Daniel Brasher left a high-paying job as a money manager to work at a job he loves, leading counselling sessions with recently paroled ex-cons. Now he's ready to move on and start a private practice.

But before he leaves, he finds an envelope in his mailbox - one intended for someone else. Inside is an unsigned note that says: "admit what you've done or you will bleed for it. you have 'til november 15 at midnite." The deadline has already passed and the person to whom the envelope was addressed was brutally murdered.

But this first warning is only the beginning. Soon, Daniel finds more warnings in his office mail, to people that the police cannot track down, victims that cannot be saved. Daniel's efforts, however, have alerted the killer and next he gets a threat of his own.

With the clock ticking, Daniel - with no clue what he's supposed to have done or to what action he must confess - must somehow appease, or outwit, a ruthless killer.

I am an artist, living in Cairns, Queensland, Australia right next to the Great Barrier Reef. I listen to audiobooks everyday while making art and on into the night. I really like mysteries with a good serving of suspense on the side that keep you wondering right to the end. However, I won't say no to any entertaining and well written book which has been read by an excellent narrator.

"I tell no lies, Gregg Hurwitz at his very best"

I agree with another reviewer, Gregg Hurwitz does get better and better and I can hardly wait for his next work. Jeff Harding did an excellent job bringing this book to life and his words painted vivid pictures in my mind of each character. The story was original and evolved into an intricate plot that was most enjoyable in its denouement. A great thriller and highly recommended.

"I tired to love this book...."

I really wanted to love this book and on paper it all, beautifully crafter sentences, plot twists and turns and a smooth narrator. However, the beautifully crafted sentences made this book sooo slow! I went for an hour long walk and I still didn't know what the book was about. By the end I had given up caring about the characters and the plot twists.

    "REALLY struggling with this one"

I find Jeff Harding's narration most irritating. First he has a strange turn at the end of his statements (they sound more like statements than sentences) which makes it sound like a list. Secondly,His female voices are dreadful and make me want to scream. I am really struggling to stay with this one. I do wish that I remembered how much I dislike this narrator so that I avoid the books he reads ..... Anyway! to the content, I am finding it really slow, and although partway through I have had to check the synopsis to find out what it is all about. A waste of a credit!! I doubt that I will stay with it!

    "Greg Hurwitz at his best"

I am just a great fan of Greg Hurwitz, and this is another great story, brilliantly read by Jeff Harding. I think the narrator can make or break a story, even if it's a good yarn a bad narrator can turn it into rubbish, so well done Jeff Harding.
As with any Greg Hurwitz you think you know what's happening, and feel all smug half way thorough, and some twist comes to throw you.
This story got us through some really dreary road trips in what seemed like no time at all.Well crafted, believeable characters and plots.
    Hope he keeps on writing....

"A fast paced thriller from the great Gregg Hurwitz"

I didn't immediately like the narration, but came round to it pretty quickly, was listening to this on my commute to work, and got annoyed when I arrived and had to turn it off. This is a cut above the rest in this genre and keeps you guessing until the end!
