    "Was she in a hurry?"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would always recommend J.D. Robb, but I would recommend that her books be read in order, since character development is so important. This shorter story leaves out a lot of the usual interactions and behind the scenes development. I felt that it was just a little "off" from her usual stories, as if she didn't have time to expand it fully. It even seemed to be read a bit more slowly than others in the series!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Taken in Death?

I liked the relationship between the twins: the communication that they had together. Would have liked more of it, though.

    Which scene was your favorite?

The end: the children showing their gratitude to Eve, who doesn't know how to respond.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did listen to it in one sitting. Always want to, but usually can't because of their length.

    Any additional comments?

I don't know why this book seemed to be abbreviated, but I hope Robb gets back to her usual detail and length. Nevertheless, she remains my favorite author.

    "Taken In Death"

Great short story. I love to see Eve's growth in interactions with each character and how she reacts to children. She has come a long way since Naked In Death the first book in this series.

This novella is just as powerful as the regular novels in the series. It's worth the credit.

    "Not my favorite"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The story was too short. the story unfolded too quickly I think.

What was most disappointing about J. D. Robb’s story?

This was not one of her best. I've read and listened to all of her books and this one just falls a little short. Maybe the story was too fast. I'll still continue to buy her books!

    "Great short story, Great narrator"
What did you love best about Taken in Death?

The narrator, Susan Erickson, brings characters to life, I am not sure I could read these books after listening to all of them.

What other book might you compare Taken in Death to and why?

    Any J.D. Robb book

Which character – as performed by Susan Ericksen – was your favorite?

    Peabody, always!!!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I teared up in the book with the children and any time Eve relives her childhood through nightmares. I did laugh out loud with Peabody figuring out that her family altered the fairytales that were told to her with the "New Ager Crap"

    Any additional comments?

Good short story, this one was about a "Bat" crazy twin that goes after the "weaker" one and her family for revenge. It was well developed for a short story, but it is J.D. Robb so I am not surprised. A set of twins are kidnapped and I did sit on the edge of my seat "praying" that Robb would not kill the kids, because she has in some of her stories.... Anyway, this is a good one, and you get all the great characters appearing throughout the story. Robb brings back Agent Tisdale from HSO who worked with Dallas on a previous case. Worth the read!

    "Great Short Eve Dallas Novel"

In Taken in Death, J.D. Robb has created an engrossing story that keeps you engaged and rooting for the good guys right to the end. And all the good guys are back in this story -- besides Dallas and Roark, the investigation includes Peabody, Macnab, and all the members of Dallas's team. The plot depends on an old, often used plot device which I can't name without being a spoiler, and Robb has given the old device new novelty and shine. The mission in this book involves locating and rescuing two young kidnapped children, and the key to finding them turns out to be a child's toy.

The author manages to pour a lot of tension and suspense into a book that is only a bit over 3 hours long. Susan Ericksen's narration is excellent as usual, and the whole experience is well worth your time and token. Highly recommended.

    "Pretty good for short story"

More action than last book so that is a plus. Hopefully the last book was just a glitch and she will get back on track. Nice to have all the characters back in this book too.
As for S. Ericksen BRILLIANT as always!!

    "Recycling Plotlines"

I have always loved the JD Robb series until a year ago. I feel that Nora is recycling plotlines and rushing out books that just are not her best work. I no longer run to Wal-mart the morning her books come out or put onto my audible wish list. If you have a credit, use it, donn't pay for this. You should buy something else.

    "kidnapped children"

Each year Robb publishes a novel and a short novella. This is the 2013 novella. The story is fast paced with lots of action, suspense humor and the usual great interaction of the regular characters of the series. It is the cast of characters that make this such a great series. I started the series because I was curious at how Robb perceived what the world would be like in 2060 and what crime fighting advancements would be. Susan Ericksen is critical to the success of the series, she is a great narrator. This story has a twin female, who is insane, kidnap her identical twin sister's children and murder their nanny. Dallas and team are out to rescue them. The children are also identical twins which add another twist to the story. Robb weaves a couple of children's fairy tales into the story If you are a fan of the series you will enjoy this. If you are looking for a short easy to listen to story this is the book.

    "Great!!"

This is probably her best short story. I'm not a fan of short stories- I think they leave readers unfulfilled. This one however, was pretty awesome. It was an interesting story and it was well told. Ericksen is brilliant- men, women, kids, accents- she can do them all.

"Great continuation of Eve and Roarke stories"

This is a great continuation of the Eve and Roarke murder stories. I enjoyed the twist that found Eve trying to find the children rather than concentrating on the murder. A little bit low tech compared with other stories which made a nice change, whilst also keeping the character story lines moving forward without detracting from the story line.
