John Grisham takes you back to where it all began...

John Grisham's A Time to Kill is one of the most popular novels of our time. Now we return to that famous courthouse in Clanton as Jake Brigance once again finds himself embroiled in a fiercely controversial trial - a trial that will expose old racial tensions and force Ford County to confront its tortured history.

Seth Hubbard is a wealthy man dying of lung cancer. He trusts no one. Before he hangs himself from a sycamore tree, Hubbard leaves a new, handwritten, will. It is an act that drags his adult children, his Black maid, and Jake into a conflict as riveting and dramatic as the murder trial that made Brigance one of Ford County's most notorious citizens, just three years earlier.

The second will raises far more questions than it answers. Why would Hubbard leave nearly all of his fortune to his maid? Had chemotherapy and painkillers affected his ability to think clearly? And what does it all have to do with a piece of land once known as Sycamore Row?

In Sycamore Row, John Grisham returns to the setting and the compelling characters that first established him as America's favorite storyteller. Here, in his most assured and thrilling novel yet, is a powerful testament to the fact that Grisham remains the master of the legal thriller, nearly 25 years after the publication of A Time to Kill.

Featured Article: The Essential John Grisham in Audio

John Grisham is best known for his fast-paced legal thrillers and mysteries, many of which have been adapted for television and film. Because he’s so prolific and has been writing for decades, it can be difficult to know where to begin when selecting a title from his impressive back catalog. And Grisham is definitely a jack-of-all-trades: he’s written not only legal thrillers, but nonfiction, a series for kids, some humorous novels, and recently, a new mystery series outside of the legal thriller genre. To help you decide which Grisham gem to download next, we’ve compiled a list of the very best.

Great book and narration

Love just about every Grisham book but this might be one of his best. Michael Beck brought such depth and dimension to the characters. I am so sorry I finished it so quickly

Excellent tale read well

The narrator made the difference in this frame. He was so good.
Great story and I figured it out about 85% through but was spellbound. For runners who listen to books on the runs, this is a good one because you’ll run a little extra.

A near perfect, exciting story of justice.

Entertaining, educational, and thrilling Sycamore Row is Grisham at his best. He grabs your attention and does not let go until his final sentence.

Second Time Through

This is the second time I listened to Sycamore Row. I love the story as much this time as I did several years ago when I first bought the book. The narrator does a super job and John Grisham is a remarkable story teller. The characters in Grisham 's stories are so believable and you want to get to know them personally. This book has been out for awhile, if you haven't read/listened to it, do so!

Excellent narrator, story was a tad slow

Narrator did an excellent job at pacing and adjusting djalogue to fit the characters. The story was interesting, but dragged a bit at times. I felt that much of the book could gave been trimmed and the story would have remained the same. I would recommend as a listen, but there are plenty of other books I would recommend first.
