John Grisham takes you back to where it all began...

John Grisham's A Time to Kill is one of the most popular novels of our time. Now we return to that famous courthouse in Clanton as Jake Brigance once again finds himself embroiled in a fiercely controversial trial - a trial that will expose old racial tensions and force Ford County to confront its tortured history.

Seth Hubbard is a wealthy man dying of lung cancer. He trusts no one. Before he hangs himself from a sycamore tree, Hubbard leaves a new, handwritten, will. It is an act that drags his adult children, his Black maid, and Jake into a conflict as riveting and dramatic as the murder trial that made Brigance one of Ford County's most notorious citizens, just three years earlier.

The second will raises far more questions than it answers. Why would Hubbard leave nearly all of his fortune to his maid? Had chemotherapy and painkillers affected his ability to think clearly? And what does it all have to do with a piece of land once known as Sycamore Row?

In Sycamore Row, John Grisham returns to the setting and the compelling characters that first established him as America's favorite storyteller. Here, in his most assured and thrilling novel yet, is a powerful testament to the fact that Grisham remains the master of the legal thriller, nearly 25 years after the publication of A Time to Kill.

Featured Article: The Essential John Grisham in Audio

John Grisham is best known for his fast-paced legal thrillers and mysteries, many of which have been adapted for television and film. Because he’s so prolific and has been writing for decades, it can be difficult to know where to begin when selecting a title from his impressive back catalog. And Grisham is definitely a jack-of-all-trades: he’s written not only legal thrillers, but nonfiction, a series for kids, some humorous novels, and recently, a new mystery series outside of the legal thriller genre. To help you decide which Grisham gem to download next, we’ve compiled a list of the very best.

aweseom, great legal thriller full of character.

What can I say, Grisham rarely disappoints and this book delivers the type of exciting legal court room drama we have come to know and love from JG

Great story, gripping edge of your seat drama, although some of the characters seem rehashed (anyone who has read the testament will see some correlating similarity's). And while this isn't Grisham's best work, it is much better than some of teh recent books I purchased on audible.

if you are a JG fan, get this book. if you are not and not sure, I would recommend some of JG's earlier work first before this one, like the client, or the street lawyer. As a fan, I give two thumbs way up. It realty is a good book.

Great story, Great Entertainment

Never thought a story about probate could be so gripping. I could kind of see the ending from early in the story but still kept me enthralled (and from working when I should have been LOL). Brilliantly written and wonderfully narrated. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Typical Grisham, but well worth the listen

I have read most Grisham books, and was not sure that I wanted to listen to another, but I am glad I did. Its quite entertaining and the narrator did an excellent job with the voices. Set in Mississippi it is told from the viewpoint of a small-town lawyer. What starts off as a simple probate case becomes more complex. There is a "surprise ending", which I won't give away. I did however guess what it would be halfway trough the book. Most readers probably will as well. So in summary if you like Grisham or legal thrillers you can't go wrong with this book.

Bummed when it was finally over

Where does Sycamore Row rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the best of the year!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Grisham's writing in this one is so good that even without the twists and turns I would have loved the book. So when surprises game, which was often, the book just became that much better! I loved this book.

Which scene was your favorite?

Courtroom, nobody like Grisham for writing compelling courtroom drama.
