John Grisham takes you back to where it all began...

John Grisham's A Time to Kill is one of the most popular novels of our time. Now we return to that famous courthouse in Clanton as Jake Brigance once again finds himself embroiled in a fiercely controversial trial - a trial that will expose old racial tensions and force Ford County to confront its tortured history.

Seth Hubbard is a wealthy man dying of lung cancer. He trusts no one. Before he hangs himself from a sycamore tree, Hubbard leaves a new, handwritten, will. It is an act that drags his adult children, his Black maid, and Jake into a conflict as riveting and dramatic as the murder trial that made Brigance one of Ford County's most notorious citizens, just three years earlier.

The second will raises far more questions than it answers. Why would Hubbard leave nearly all of his fortune to his maid? Had chemotherapy and painkillers affected his ability to think clearly? And what does it all have to do with a piece of land once known as Sycamore Row?

In Sycamore Row, John Grisham returns to the setting and the compelling characters that first established him as America's favorite storyteller. Here, in his most assured and thrilling novel yet, is a powerful testament to the fact that Grisham remains the master of the legal thriller, nearly 25 years after the publication of A Time to Kill.

Featured Article: The Essential John Grisham in Audio

John Grisham is best known for his fast-paced legal thrillers and mysteries, many of which have been adapted for television and film. Because he’s so prolific and has been writing for decades, it can be difficult to know where to begin when selecting a title from his impressive back catalog. And Grisham is definitely a jack-of-all-trades: he’s written not only legal thrillers, but nonfiction, a series for kids, some humorous novels, and recently, a new mystery series outside of the legal thriller genre. To help you decide which Grisham gem to download next, we’ve compiled a list of the very best.

Another super Grisham masterpiece

I liked story very much. It was a bit slow at beginning but really grabbed you as it went from a good potential for characters to utterly hopeless to justice provided seemingly by Divine Providence. At least one character (judge Atlee) is further built in “The Summons”

He's Back!!

I have struggled with the last few Grisham books but this is a awesome book. I did a marathon read.... couldn't put it down. This one is a must read.. .unlike some of the faux Grisham books out there.

John Grisham and Michael Beck

Best combination around. It is always a great story with excellent narration. When I used to have down time I would read his books, now I get to listen to and from work or on trips.

Predictable

I live John Grisham’s books. I did enjoy listening to it but knew the ending with in the first five chapters. Did not know how it would unfold but knew who would save
The day and why.

long story but it made sense in the end

The story was long but mostly kept my interest. It all came full circle by the last few chapters, which made the story worth it.

Long but good

I Think it would have been more effective if a bit shorter, good storyline and characters.
