Publisher's summary

No affairs. No criminal connections. No DNA. No clues. Eve Dallas may be the best cop in the city - not to mention having the lavish resources of her husband Roarke at her disposal - but the Swisher case has her baffled. The family members were murdered in their beds with brutal, military precision. The state-of-the-art security was breached, and the killers used night vision to find their way through the cozy middle-class house. Clearly, Dallas is dealing with pros. The only mistake they made was to overlook the nine-year-old girl cowering in the dark in the kitchen...

Now Nixie Swisher is an orphan - and the sole eyewitness to a seemingly inexplicable crime. Kids are not Dallas' strong suit. But Nixie needs a safe place to stay, and Dallas needs to solve this case. Not only because of the promise she made to Nixie. Not only for the cause of justice. But also to put to rest some of her own darkest memories - and deepest fears. With her partner Peabody on the job, and watching her back - and with Roarke providing the kind of help only he can give - Lieutenant Eve Dallas is running after shadows, and dead-set on finding out who's behind them.

Crack another case with Eve Dallas.

One of my Top 3 in the Series!

This is one of my top 3 favorite books in the entire series (as of Nov. '22), and I have listened to all 55 (plus novellas) more than once . As always, Susan Ericksen delivers such an amazingly flawless performance, that you find yourself forgetting it's a single person narrating the different characters.

Great Series

Love the books. Each one is different and exciting to read or listen to. Would love to know what York's first name is and also know more about Summerset.

How can they just get better?

I echo what others have said about this book being the best so far. The story was so intriguing and horrific at the same time. I only wish there had been an epilogue to this one.

J. D. Robb rocks on Audible!

What did you love best about Survivor in Death?

The author never fails to deliver. J.D. consistently provides a story that I enjoy from beginning to end and remember long after the novel is finished. Her characters are memorable and realistic and the plot is never without twists and turns for both Eva and Roark to complete the wonderful experience. Thanks yet again, J. D.

Another great book in the In Death series

This is my favorite one in the series so far. You do not need to read them all, as each book stands alone. But why not! The characters have so much depth, I almost feel like I know them. Each book is somehow fresh, I'm downloading the next book in the series now.

I think this one is the best one yet.

Wow, this one kept me on the edge of my chair, I finished this book in 2 days. Great book, and the narrator Susan Ericksen, is awesome. On to the next book.

Very Entertaining

Susan Ericksen can make so many characters come to life. It amazes me that the books are read/performed so seamlessly. Outstanding job.

Everyone's back in fine form and voice

What did you love best about Survivor in Death?

The mini Eve, Nixie.

What other book might you compare Survivor in Death to and why?

All the In-Death series. Susan is a great performer.

Have you listened to any of Susan Ericksen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've listened to all the In-Death series and this was is on par with the beginning. Everyone's voice mirrored the original audio's some voices lately have been off but this one was perfect.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Eve thinking that she couldn't handle the child but she did just fine. Proving that what she thinks about kids isn't reality. The talk she and Roarke had about having kids was hilarious. Nice to know he sure about having kids but not far in the future and even "The Roarke" not knowing exactly how to handle Nixie. That was funny.

Any additional comments?

These two will come back to haunt her. They're just that evil.

Real Page-Turner

If you could sum up Survivor in Death in three words, what would they be?

Couldn't put down

Who was your favorite character and why?

Eve (of course).

What about Susan Ericksen’s performance did you like?

Hard to know she plays ALL of the voices! And, sounds so different in each of them. A true artist.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Lots of shocked disbelief and did make me cry.

Any additional comments?

I just purchased two more of J.D. Robb from Audible, while listening to one right now.

Thanks tons.
