Publisher's summary

Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden is a very powerful wizard and a dedicated private eye. He is also a wise cracking trouble magnet. Fueled by a tempest of guilt, sleep deprivation, malnutrition, bad temper and frankly awful personal grooming. Harry is hurtling toward oblivion. According to Harry that is nobody's business but his own.

The Winter Queen of Faerie manipulates him into accepting a case to solve a murder and stop a war between the courts of Summer and Winter that could have literally earth shattering consequences. His own soul is up for grabs. Dresden must dig deep to discover that at time a willingness to accept a little help from your friends, be they a cub pack of werewolves, old loves in sheep's clothing, or a battalion of pizza loving dewdrop fairies, is a very good thing.

Brilliant delivery, compelling story

Im a fan of the reader, Marsters', inflections and intent with the story delivery. And once again, Butcher captures a modern day Wizards encounters in compelling fashion

Great Fantasy Book

So far this is the best book in the series. Harry is no longer a pushover and he starts trusting their companions.

A masterful book, amazing engaging narration

Thoroughly hooked on this series, I try to pace myself as to let the book last a few days. The Dresden universe is expanding in wonderful and entirely satisfying ways, I couldn't enjoy it more. These books have comedy, fantasy, mild romance, mystery, a universe to explore, and I feel supreme satisfaction when finishing one. When listening to James Marsters, it feels as though Harry himself is telling me these stories rather than a stranger reading them to me. It sounds like the whole point, but think of your last audio book of a different author, did the narrator sound exactly like you'd pictured the main character? Marsters can do many distinct voices, and manages to read for women without sounding whiney, which is one of my biggest complaints with other audio books (Harry Potter...). This book really opens up the wizard/fae worlds, with different courts, places, characters, species, and powers. You will love it!

excellent installment

this book makes for a very compelling listen and is performed wonderfully by the reader. the story is weaved very well as an episode within the larger narrative of the series. It includes some personal growth for our favorite grumpy wizard and also sees him broaden his world to deal with still more supernatural adversaries. some of whom become recurring characters.

An excellent listen!

I've been listening to the Dresden Files while I exercise or do errands and I am enamored of James Marsden reading these books to me.

I am an avid reader of many genres including Urban Fantasy but surprisingly I had not started the Dresden Files until recently. This fourth book is well done- advancing both characters and plot points while not engaging in long winded rehashing of past exploits.

Fun read and well written.

God I love this series

While this does drag in a few parts, it is another perfect piece of Dresden. Dont trust any woke reviews which call it misogynistic, this is a fun example of modern fantasy which i recommend to anyone

Just as good as the first two!

I don't know why so many other reviewers said they hated it, or that it wasn't as good. Every book in this series has been better than the last, including this one. I love this reader, too. He always sounds so natural and authentic. 1000 stars!!!

Great story just one problem

my wife and I love the Dresden files series and summer knight is no exception. The guy reading does a great job but the audio doesn't seem to be leveled and this means we are constantly adjusting and then getting murdered when it comes back.
