Publisher's summary

Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden is a very powerful wizard and a dedicated private eye. He is also a wise cracking trouble magnet. Fueled by a tempest of guilt, sleep deprivation, malnutrition, bad temper and frankly awful personal grooming. Harry is hurtling toward oblivion. According to Harry that is nobody's business but his own.

The Winter Queen of Faerie manipulates him into accepting a case to solve a murder and stop a war between the courts of Summer and Winter that could have literally earth shattering consequences. His own soul is up for grabs. Dresden must dig deep to discover that at time a willingness to accept a little help from your friends, be they a cub pack of werewolves, old loves in sheep's clothing, or a battalion of pizza loving dewdrop fairies, is a very good thing.

Great book in an Enthralling Series!

I really enjoyed this book and have become hooked on the series. I thought I might be dissappointed in the narration after listening to the Codex Alera series first (Kate Reading is my FAVORITE reader), but James Marsters does a great job.

Unfortunately,I just realized that audible does not have books 5-7 available, which is extremely frustrating.

A slight twist of suspense, but plenty of humor

Awesome book! James Marsters delivered an impeccable performance in this book. When I started with Book 1, it took me a few chapters to get used to his audible gruntings, breathing and swallowing...then after that, he grows on you. The author will keep you guessing in this book, enough that it will keep you glued to your earphones. I didn't find any dull moments compared to the first three books. I love having the Audible apps on my Droid. I can just easily plug it in my car via AUX and listen to the book on my way to work and back; it definitely makes my drive pleasurable, despite being stuck in traffic. I am looking forward to the rest of the books.

repartion repartion. .....

i like the story well enough, but there is so much repartion of info. every book does this.... about the mirrors. the eye gaze.what Harry looks like...omg. one of the reason i like abook series is that you get to know the charaters... this constant recapping is annoying. if im reading book 4... I KNOW THIS STUFF. if by chance i start at book 4 then if the story engages me i will most likely read the previous.

Fast paced and fun

I appear to have grown addicted to this series... as opposed to many other series, this one seems to be getting better in each instalment :-)
Also worth noting that James Marsters does a terrific job narrating. I'm currently downloading book 5... can't wait.

Fun, magical and world-saving

I am definitely a Dresden fan. I love the raspy raw way that the narrator reads this series.

Entertaining and distracting which is exactly what I was looking for.

Only getting better

4th book in and Marsters still can't pronounce 'Runes' correctly. Still, delightful story and performance.

ADDICTIVE!!

Any additional comments?

As far as the Dresden files goes it has been my favorite of the series. The Mr. Marsters is fantastic! He kept me laughing and on the edge of my set waiting to hear what else has about to happen. This story really pulled me in, it was hard to do anything other than listen to this book. A wonderful series for anyone that likes the mistery and feel of the old time "gumshoe" detective story.
