Publisher's summary

Lucas Davenport has seen many terrible murder scenes. This is one of the worst. In the small Minnesota town of Deephaven, an entire family has been killed - husband, wife, two daughters, dogs.

There’s something about the scene that pokes at Lucas’s cop instincts - it looks an awful lot like the kind of scorched-earth retribution he’s seen in drug killings sometimes. But this is a seriously upscale town, and the husband was an executive vice president at a big bank. It just doesn’t seem to fit.

Until it does. And where it leads Lucas will take him into the darkest nightmare of his life.

Sandford has done it again

Davenport continues to expand his story and the side characters keep rolling in. You gotta love Letty....a chip off the old block

Sandford and Ferrone hit another home run

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Some of the best audio books I've listened to are from John Sandford. If he keeps writing about Lucas Davenport and Virgil Flowers I'll be a pretty happy guy. The books are just plain great. And Ferrone is Davenport and Flowers - wouldn't be the same without him.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

As usual I always think I can figure out how the story will unfold. I never do and and am always fascinated at how Mr. Sandford builds more twists into the books than Chubby Checkers.

Which scene was your favorite?

Leddie (sp) taking care of business at the end.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Prey for me

Any additional comments?

My sincerest compliments to Mr. Sanford. I believe I have either read or listened to every Lucas Davenport and Virgil Flowers book he has written. Looking forward to your new Flowers story in the fall. Marc Hamilton, St. Louis MO

Best yet

Great story and plot. Wonderful discussion of money laundering, Mexican cartels, and Development of Lettie’s character( which her sole initial book got me into the Prey series.) this was the best yet. Ferrite does a fantastic job of creating images in my mind as I listen. The team is a wonderful supporting cast. Jl

Great story in Minnesota

The author did a good job of listing all the local places in Minnesota where the story took place

Just average

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It was just average. Not so well spent compared to other titles I have listened recently.

Would you ever listen to anything by John Sandford again?

I'll maybe give him one more chance.

Which scene was your favorite?

I cannot pick a favorite scene from the hole book. It never made me say wow, never really surprised me.

Could you see Stolen Prey being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

This will not cut it into a good TV series. It would maybe cut it for an episode of CSI though.

Any additional comments?

I was disappointed. I was expecting a great crime story and found me an average plot. The ending was so predictable! I was misguided by the positive reviews of other listeners. It is the first time that I feel like this with a book that have received top reviews like this one.

OK, but not great.

I have read almost all of John Sanford's books and can say I'm truly disappointed in this particular book. Yes, it was a Lucas Davenport read, which are normally great. But this book was predictable and more gruesome than usual. I hope that Sanford returns to his previous way of writing, which was way above this particular book. Mr. Sanford, please take your time with the next one and think about those of us who have always loved your books!

Finishes Strong

Any additional comments?

The story seemed to ramble well into the first segment. Things picked up in the second part and it really finished strong. Ferrone did his usual great job. I have listened to a large number of the Davenport Prey Series and none of the books comes close to the first one - rules of prey. This one is worth the credit, but it is not a classic.
