Publisher's summary

Scott Wilkinson is a successful young advertising executive on his way to the top. Christopher Miller is an FBI legend who has been willing to do whatever it takes to see that justice is done. However, at age 50, he's ready to spend more time with his family.

Two weeks before Christmas, Wilkinson goes on a routine business trip that will forever entangle their two lives. It starts like so many others. Wilkinson calls for a car service to take him to the airport. But the driver of Lincoln Town Car 716 is late. When he finally shows up, he drives like a maniac, and Wilkinson feels fortunate to reach the airport alive.

Then he makes a big mistake. He calls the limousine company to complain. Customer Service assures him that the bad driver will be "dealt with". Nicolai Kyznetsoff looks and sounds like all the anonymous others who whisk successful executives back and forth to the airport every day, but the man behind the wheel of Car 716 is something much more sinister: an avenging dark angel who will stop at nothing to wreak revenge on the one man he holds responsible for ruining his life.

Great new series but…

I don’t usually write reviews and enjoy audiobooks. I have enjoyed this authors other book series but the foul language was over the top not to mention the racist comments were a bit much for me. Minus those things this would be a start to a great new series much like James Patterson and Dr. Alex Cross, which i love!

Scary Ride!

This book is much darker than the Ceepak & Boyle series but well written and suspenseful. He has jumped to the ranks of my favorite authors list quickly!

Older cop and kid cop pair; good 4 sleeping

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Depends on the friend. I would not recommend this to my super literate friends who peruse the New York Times Book Reviews each week and read all the book therein.

This series involves a fairly juvenile older cop who pairs with an actual juvenile cop--he starts as a volunteer intern and gets hired in the second book of series I believe.. The two share a love for Bruce Springsteen. They know each lyric ever written by the man. It may leave you feeling 'Born to Run' but if you enjoy a young adult novel here and there, this is somewhat similar. The words may be a bit bigger....

If you’ve listened to books by Chris Grabenstein before, how does this one compare?

I have read the whole darn series. I am desperate for thrillers that are not too thrilling to sleep to at night. This worked out well for that. The volume levels stayed even and the different voices did not wake me upon entry.

Which scene was your favorite?

I am sorry to say I cannot remember the book well anymore-I read it a few months ago. I usually like the opening scenes the best, as the characters and plot are being formed and fleshed out a bit.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Old cop and fresh young partner who share a love for Springsteen romp up and down the Jersey shore

Any additional comments?

I do not remember any bad words. These books are probably good for young adults. Perhaps that is the intended audience. The older cop is sweet, has a heart of gold, but is not favored by his commanders. Both of the pair know each word Bruce Springsteen has ever written.

Very enjoyable.

The plot's nice, and the author handles the characters and details well. The suspense reaches high levels, but for me it did not become unpleasantly grisly or morbid. I would have liked a longer book (8 hours is great reading but a little too short for my money), but despite that I am just about to download my next Chris Grabenstein book. The narrative in this book is among the best ever. Woodman is excellent with foreign accents (including the brief Asian one). I might download an audiobook just for this narrator!

Get ready for some mayhem this holiday season!

A non-stop thrill ride from start to finish “Slay Ride” gives you a front row seat to a heinous set of crimes committed by a very deranged person. If you’re looking for something along the lines of the Ceepak mysteries by the same author I think you’ll be in for a bit more of a shock. The author pulls no punches when it comes to the acts of violence perpetrated or the coarse language used throughout. He paints a vivid picture of a maniac and really draws the listener in.

Mr. Woodman does a great job with the narration as always!

Very Entertaining

It took a little while before the story finally took off but once it did, I was hooked. A great cast of characters with a decent amount of actions! Great narration!

Grabenstein really grabs you with this thriller!

I've listened to Grabenstein's comedy/mysteries and have found them to very entertaining, but this new genre of murder mysteries with Chris Miller, is a real thriller. And the narrator is incredible. He does so many voices with such skill and his story telling is so natural.

It's a MUST listen.

Too much bad language

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Was thinking this might be a good holiday mystery but just too much bad language for me to continue that didn't make the reading experience pleasurable.
