Publisher's summary

Special Agent Omar Zagouri's latest case is his most dangerous - and his most personal yet. The discovery of secret sixteenth-century letters unveils a plot between the sultan Suleyman and his chief wife, Roxelane, to change the course of the Ottoman Empire. A descendent of Roxelane, Zagouri learns he has an enemy whose revenge has been centuries in the making.

Targeted by an antiquities collector who's also descended from a chief rival for the ancient throne, Zagouri soon uncovers a modern-day conspiracy that threatens the lives of his family and the security of a nation.

To expose the plot, Zagouri must team up with Naim, the son of his nemesis, who heads an international black-market operation that may have ties to the killings. From ancient Constantinople to the present-day Middle East, Zagouri is on a collision course with history. Time is running out to solve a royal mystery and stop a ruthless killer - one who has Zagouri's name on his hit list.

Fascinating story about Ottoman Empire

One of the things I love most about this series are the dual stories found in each novel. As Omar does his job trying to return ancient artifacts to their counties of origin, a reader also gets a wonderful glimpse at the history behind the artifacts. It is also inspiring that these stories tell about amazing women who influenced history in significant ways. I hope HB Moore continues to add to this amazing series.

Adventure and Thrills within...

I don't read too many thrillers, but the price was right, and Bon Shaw (aka R.C. Bray) is narrating  the series, so I knew I'd be enjoying myself. This book didn't let me down!
Moore gave us a two-fold story, one thread that tells us of the rich and oft romanticized 16th century Ottoman Empire, and the life of Sultan Suleyman, his poetry, and Queen, Roxelane, whom Suleyman elevated from slave status, to be his chief wife.
The book's main story however, is about Omar Zagouri, a man who tracks down and stops the thieves of priceless art and antiquities! Omar's hunt becomes personal when Omar's mother is injured by his enemies, and he finds that his life is at stake as well, as he searches for some priceless letters written in the hand of Queen Roxelane...
H.B. Moore does something that very few authors manage to pull off... She makes me care about both stories, I found myself actually grimacing (in a good way) when we switch points-of-view at the chapter breaks...
Go grab this audio book, and let H.B. Moore and Bon Shaw take you away to an exotic locale... and a story that spans the centuries.
Adventure and thrills await the listener of this marvelous tale!

Another great story H.B. Moore

I love the historic and modern story lines meshing. It's also interesting thinking about a different culture. Definitely a great murder mystery and love story x2!
