Publisher's summary

Former Secret Service agents turned private investigators Sean King and Michelle Maxwell have seen their lives splinter around them. Michelle lies unconscious in a hospital bed after a night of suicidal violence. And Sean is forced to take on a thankless investigation into the murder of a scientist just inside the CIA's razor-wire fence near Williamsburg, Virginia.

Soon he is uncovering layers of disinformation that shields a stunning world of elite mathematicians, physicists, war heroes, spies, and deadly field agents. Amid murder, a seemingly autistic girl's extraordinary genius, and a powerful breakthrough in the realm of classified codes, Sean learns enough to put his life at risk. Now, he needs Michelle, at her best, to help stop a conspiracy of traitors operating in the shadow of the White House itself.

From Michelle's courageous struggle to defeat her long-buried personal demons to a centuries-old secret that surfaces in the heat of the action, Simple Genius pulses with stunning, high-intensity suspense. The heroes of Split Second and Hour Game are back as you've never seen them before.

Very fast paced

This book seems disjointed at first, but stick it out, it has all of the parts of a classic who-done-it.
Michelle slips into and out of suicidal depression rather magically, which is my only problem with the characterization. Otherwise, it's a great listen.

Entertaining

Would you try another book from David Baldacci and/or Scott Brick?

I enjoyed reading the book. It starts a little slow but midway it picks up and ends great.

Boring

The author's notes at the end of the story was the best part and about the only thing to keep my attention. They brought back the random music too...not sure why. Overall boring book.

David always finishes his characters. Love Brick!

Would you listen to Simple Genius again? Why?

yes, sometimes you miss some of the little things.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Sean, steady, thinks ahead and sounds like a perfert gentleman.

Which character – as performed by Scott Brick – was your favorite?

Sean, but Scott Brick is the best no matter which character he does. You can tell which character he is the second he changes his voice.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, I love the digest what I've heard and then listen to a little more.

good but implausible

one side of the river is CIA and the other just happens to be code breakers? umm what a coincidence, and i am not going to read again about some so called martial arts expert female agent always beating up huge males, give me a break, having been involved with martial arts for years, let me tell you, horsepower counts for alot, there were large gaps where the agents employer was just completely forgotten about also

love Baldacci’s dialogues and story

sometimes it feels like he’s playing to an audience made up of conspiracy theorists about the existence of a deep state
