Silencing Eve: Eve Duncan Series

I read a lot of bad reviews about this series but I really enjoyed it. She brought back characters from her past book and we even got to meet some new. (Zander) I enjoyed the series and it was worth the money for 3 books.

I have read and reread the readers' reviews of this series. I just don't get it! How could this series have so many fans?

Without judging the whole series, I assert that this book is not well written. Virtually every conversation is heated, almost every interpersonal relationship contains some sexual tension, every decision is critical ... there is no flow, no rhythm, there are no calm and easy moments.

I particularly dislike Johansen's use of dialogue. It is awkward and unsophisticated; it made me think of a high school student who - having read some excellent mysteries - tried to imitate professional style but failed.

The narrator made a mediocre book worse. She uses her voice to distinguish between accents (Scottish voice is well done, for example), but she doesn't do a good job distinguishing between three American women's voices. I struggled to keep up ("Who said that??").

A waste of money, in my opinion. Blech.

I love Iris Johansen! This story is full of excitement, suspense, revenge, love, and constant surprises. I love how she works in all the different characters. can't wait to read the next one.

Wonderful book as usual . I love books with recurring characters . Her books make love or hate characters and the narrator did great

Very well written, I absolutely loved this book! I hope we'll get to hear more of Eve, Joe and all the gang soon.

She has a good voice and I enjoyed her characters accents.

The book was good in alot of places. The thing that turned me off was Jane having to do everything and not wanting (ha ha) anybody else to help. If you love someone as much as she loves Eve why wouldn't you want everyone helping you why did it always have to be only her?

Don't be so stubborn makes for a better read if all are involved. People like Jane drive me crazy. My way or the highway bull.

To be honest, I haven't even heard the ending! Some of Johansen's books go "on and on" with the DRAMA/ANGST....and this trilogy does just that. Perhaps the abridged version or even the condensed version would have been better. I hope Eve survives....if this were a book, I'd read the ending then bring the book back to the library! I got so tired of hearing the Dead Son's voice read (as it was written) that I was turned off by Johansen's story!

Probably not....escapist fiction is just that.

The last few Johansen's I've read I'd swear weren't written by Iris Johansen. Eve and Jane's character traits have so drastically changed I don't even want to read them any longer. They have went from very strong confident women to weak, winey, stupid characters. I'd swear some man is writing these books for Iris Johansen.

The scene on the beach with Trevor, Jane, and Doan's wife. They play Trevor as this very smart person then he allows the idiot woman to walk away with her gun in hand. And then get yourself shot and killed? I was so mad by how much of idiots Johansen wrote those characters in different parts of the book, I almost didn't finish it.

Go back to writting the way you have in the past or retire your pen because people are going to stop reading and listening to your books.

The story telling is getting not good. Elisabeth Rodgers needs help. Her words are so short and get under you skin. They are abrupt and lack feeling. The story line is getting bad. Iris needs to slow down and think about her story line. I used to like her writing but now it make me want to turn it off. "Dammit" is getting old. Maybe Elisabeth Rodgers needs to be replaced.

I Love the Eve Duncan series.. Good book but some parts where drawn out a bit much. Not what I expected to be a finale.
