Publisher's summary

All New Jersey bounty hunter Stephanie Plum has to do is bring in semi-retired bail jumper Eddie DeChooch. For an old man he's still got a knack for slipping out of sight...and raising hell. How else can Stephanie explain the bullet-riddled corpse in Eddie's garden? Who else would have a clue as to why two of Stephanie's friends suddenly vanished? For answers Stephanie has the devil to pay: her mentor, Ranger. The deal? He'll give Stephanie all the help she needs...if she gives him everything he wants.

As if things weren't complicated enough, Stephanie's just discovered her Grandma Mazur's own unmentionable alliance with Eddie. Add a series of unnerving break-ins, not to mention the bombshell revelation leveled by Stephanie's estranged sister, and Stephanie's ready for some good news. Unfortunately, a marriage proposal from Joe Morelli, the love of her life, isn't quite cutting it. And now, murder, a randy paramour, a wily mobster, death threats, extortion, and a triple kidnapping aside, Stephanie's really got the urge to run for her life.

Love the series but yet again bad narrator!

I thought a new narrator would help me with these but I’d take CJ Critt over this one at this point. I’m only listening because I loved reading the books, stopped at a point and now want listening to relive them but sheesh! The narrator is awful.

Another great Plum adventure!

I love all the Stephanie Plum novels and am glad Audible finally got the unabridged version of this one. The book has great characters and an entertaining plot. Also, Lorelei King does a great job of narrating again. She really brings the story to life with different voices for the characters.

Funny

I have enjoyed the whole series so far. I liked it a bit better when I read it. The narrator didn't have as much expression as I'd like.

Narration

I did not enjoy the voice of Lorelei King. I’m hoping for better narrative in Eight.

Great audio book

Would you listen to Seven Up again? Why?

Yes

What did you like best about this story?

The humor is always a plus with all Janet Evanovich books. Great characters.

What about Lorelei King’s performance did you like?

She did an amazing job with the voices. But I think she missed the mark with Ranger. I just can't hear Ranger pronouncing you like "ju". A minor criticism.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No

Always enjoy Stephanie Plum books

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

She sounds too old. I like Debbie Mazur better - she has the "accent" and just sounds more appopriate for the part. This narrator sounds like it would be Stephanie Plum's mother!!

Book 7 sealed the deal. Excellent fun

I've reviewed each book I've read in the Stephanie Plum series. Thought I have read the books she wrote in collaboration with Lee Goldberg, the 1st book in this series seemed very bland and felt disappointing after loving those other three.
In an interview, at the end of book 7, the author describes the fun of developing characters. I enjoy watching the author evolve, as well.
Yes. I like this book the best of the first 7. Can't wait to start the 8th.
Fun read. You'll catch yourself smiling and laughing.

Funny funny funny!!

The Stephanie Plum novels are the best and Lorelei King does an AWSOME job in bringing life to the characters with different voices. Sometimes I just can't stop laughing. I hope there are more.. I just love them!
