Good story with a horrible reader!!!

Would you try another book from Vince Flynn and/or Ken Kliban?

I plan on listening to more as they are good books, however if this guy reads them I'm done. Only reason I'm going to finish is to see what happens.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Separation of Power?

The end because as I look ahead this guy is reading any more!!!

How could the performance have been better?

Different person reading.

Did Separation of Power inspire you to do anything?

Yes write down the readers name and never listen to anything he reads.

Captain Kirk on Helium

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

The narration is awful. Ken's intonation, inflection, and rhythm are so far outside the norms of spoken English that the book takes on almost a comedic quality. Picture William Shatner inhaling a balloon full of Helium and then reading the book as Captain Kirk and you'll be in the ballpark. I'm not sure if it was simply my frustration with the narrator, but it also seemed like it took much longer to get to the action than the other Mitch Rapp books. The first hour or two seemed to simply rehash the events of the prior novels in the series. Hopefully this isn't a recurring trend in future installments..

What did you like best about this story?

I like Mitch's character, even when he sounds like a whiny adolescent.

How could the performance have been better?

Rerecord it with a new narrator.

Reader not so great

The reader ended almost each sentence with the same intonation. It was very distracting and irritating.

Not crazy about narrator

Loved the story and love all the Mitch Rapp series but didn't like Ken Kliban for this type of book.

narrator murdered this book

I love Vince Flynn "Mitch Rapp", and have listened to all the other books, but realized I missed this one. The narrator is really horrible.

A Good Story Sabatoged

Rarely have I listened to such an unfortunate sabotage of a good story by an inferior narrator. I am an avid fan of Vince Flynn and have listened to almost everything he has on audio book. I have not listened to them in order of publication and so was surprised and disturbed when I began "Separation of Power" and was immediately exposed to Ken Kilban as a narrator. G. Guidall and N. Sullivan and A. Schultz had all built in my mind the characters of Mitch ,Irene and Anna and others that was completely shattered by Kilban's amateurish and over-the-top caricatures (especially the interactions between Mitch and Anna). I see that Kilban didn't narrate another of Flynn's books, so maybe Flynn got the message early on. As always, Flynn is masterful story teller and this story is no different. However, the book was ruined for me by Kilban's distortion of these great serial characters.

Great story, did not enjoy the performance at all

Would you listen to Separation of Power again? Why?

I would not, but I would read the book for sure. Very exciting with lots of twists. More politics in this book as compare to the previous in the series. The narration was just not enjoyable. The characters were wimpy and whiny. I could not tell several of the character apart.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Separation of Power?

the president's speech

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Hard to tell characters apart.
Whiny. Miss represented the characters in my opinion

Not my favorite Heritage performance, but I did enjoy the story. I look forward to continuing the series.

Worst performance ever!

You would think the narrator would at least listen to one of the previous performances for continuity, but no..... He miss pronounced three names of main characters right from the start. Drove me crazy all the way through!

I think I liked it?!?

The story, while interesting, was fairly slow and not what I've come to expect from Mitch Rapp.

However, it could have just been the narrator. I've listened to hundreds of audio books and quite literally Ken Kilban has to be the worst. From his lack of tone, mispronounced words, incorrect enunciation...I could go on and on. Let's just say it's bad.

I finally upped the narration speed and just powered through it so I can move on to the next book in the series. I'm praying for a different narrator.
