Publisher's summary
An old Soviet weapons installation in the Arctic has fallen into disrepair. Known as Dragon Island, the facility is home to a next-generation weapon with the potential to unleash a destructive force upon the world that was developed during the Cold War and subsequently forgotten.
When a terrorist organisation known as the Army of Thieves takes control of the fortified island and activates the weapon, a small band of Marines and civilians is sent in to stop them, as they are the only unit close enough to Dragon Island to be able to reach the installation in time.

Top quality hard hitting action.
If you could sum up Scarecrow and the Army of Thieves in three words, what would they be?
seat-edged geopolitical action.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
by never revealing the enemy each turn was a blind corner and each reaction was fast and furious.
Which character – as performed by Sean Mangan – was your favorite?
Scarecrow is the undoubted favourite
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
it made me think that although the plot was fantastic it was close to a possibility in terms of the way countries behave and treat their friends and their enemies.

Wow, What A Ride
Wow, what a read Matthew has exceeded himself with this book. It’s a thrill a minute.
It has everything well maybe not the sex, but everything else. I loved Bertie and was really pleased that he and Mother survived to appear in another adventure. Yet again Matthew leaves us with the unanswered question….. But you have to listen to the book to find out, what a page turner fantastic. Scarecrow you are a super hero.
Must not forget Sean Mangan another fantastic narration, you make us feel that we are there part of the action great work. I await the next Matthew Reilly installment, with your superb narration.

Adrenaline rush of noble intent!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes! This book is lightning-fast, creepy, and fascinating all in one. Matthew Reilly writes with such authority that everything he says feels as though it COULD be real. Sean Mangan has the perfect voice for this book.
What other book might you compare Scarecrow and the Army of Thieves to and why?
Ice Station is the closest to it - for obvious reasons.
What does Sean Mangan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Sean Mangan's voice makes a poor replacement for pure imagination sometimes, but his U.S. accent suits the book. He does a good job with foreign accents and voices. Someone who cannot pull a French or Chilean accent might find this especially interesting.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
A few moments made me laugh, and several times I was stomach-struck with horror. Multiple scenes and descriptions had me gaping in wonder at either months of careful editing or an amazing eye for detail.
Any additional comments?
I was a little put-off by how invincible some characters were. Matthew Reilly once said at a talk that his characters ("even Captain Schofield!") could all die at any moment in the storyline, but that did not shine through as well as it could (and perhaps should).

What a Narrator
If you could sum up Scarecrow and the Army of Thieves in three words, what would they be?
Another blinder in the Scarcrow series and a breathtaking recovery for Schofields who seemed ready to be put out to greener pasture. But the real hero of this story is the story teller in the form of Sean Mangan. I can never imagine listening to anybody else tell these fast paced stories of Matthews. He really seems to live the stories he tells and brings not only the story to life but he becomes each and every character. Hats off to you yet again Sean
Which character – as performed by Sean Mangan – was your favorite?
All, Male or Female...Good or bad Matthew writes a very diversified cast to his stories but Sean brings a deeper meaning to all of them. Matthew writes a brilliant story but was blessed in the story teller. I cannot read a fiction novel.... Have never been able to embed myself into stories I know are not real. But I live life on the road as a sales rep (working out of Matthews home city of Sydney) and have all of Matthews books in Audiobook form. My biggest problem now is dragging myself away to do my work and can often be found parked on the roadside.... too involved with the story to even drive. This unique combination of Matthew and Sean is just 110% adrenalin rush
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The slow turning point in his recovery from losing Gant...I have not recovered yet
Any additional comments?
More Books Matthew (Please do not let your own sad loss slow you down...we all feel for you) and please keep the team of Matthew and Sean together

Another terrific book from Reily
Where does Scarecrow and the Army of Thieves rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
The very best. Listened to the story twice.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Scarecrow and the Army of Thieves?
The little robot comes back to save Scarecrow.
Which scene was your favorite?
The French subamarine intervention.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It was great a book that cover many emotions. Whilst it took a few minutes to get use to the fast talking American voice it was the right speed.
Any additional comments?
Waiting to download his Sacred Stones books when I can afford it.
