Publisher's summary

Already devastated by loss, Bourne is shattered by a report that his last friend in the world, Martin Lindros has gone missing. A CI deputy director, Lindros was in Ethiopia tracking suspicious shipments of yellowcake uranium and atomic bomb weaponry. His last lifeline to humanity, Bourne will not let Lindros go. Despite his hatred for CI, Bourne sets out to rescue his friend and finish the job: dismantling a terrorist network determined to build nuclear armaments by cutting off their source of money.

But Bourne doesn't realize that these men, Islamic supremacists, are leaders of an incredibly dangerous, technologically savvy group with ties from Africa, across the Middle East, and into Eastern Europe and Russia. They have predicted Bourne's every move, and are counting on his unwitting help in their plans to destroy America.

Classic Bourne!

Another chapter in the saga. Easy to listen to. Great narration and story. Read it.

Just not the quality of the first 4

Would you try another book from Eric Van Lustbader and/or Jeremy Davidson?

Yes, but only after reading reviews well after release

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Nothing. Not as good a Jason Bourne, Definitely not the performance quality of Scott Brick, and obviously an attempt to perpetuate a brand rather than continue develop characters.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

He was boring and just not the quality linguist that Scott Brick is. Jason Bourne lost man points because of the narrator.

Could you see Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Betrayal being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Yes, but like the first 4 books, it will probably be a completely rewritten story and plot and not follow the book much at all.

Any additional comments?

I'm sure it's too late to save the brand from the cheap production course that it is on. Best now left up the screen writers and hope for the silver screen to make all of the money. Hope Ludlam got paid well, because his franchise is cheapened by the current format and production qualities of books 5 and on. Even book 4 was disappointing, but not as bad as 5.

Clever Bourne

I'm a fan of this series. It is a good spy thriller with some good twists and turns. I'd highly recommend this to spy thriller fans. Some of the twists can be assumed prior to it happening, but still a great story.

Not too bad.

Started slow and I was surprised by the sound effects. Once I got used to them it was fine. I wish they would have Bourne rest instead of continuing to fight even when half dead. I get that he is supposed to be a super agent but he is still human.

A movie piece

Why I rated this with 4 stars is because Mr. Eric Van Lustbader is the only writer who can emulate the style of Mr. Ludlum. We have Mr. Bourne as a resurrection of Rambo and Ethan Hunt (Mission Impossible)who is well versed in different languages, can disguise in the person of several main characters, crisscross the busy streets in a Ducati despite a hand grabbing his neck like a vise grip slowly depleting his supply of oxygen, submerged underwater for several minutes without gills (like in Harry Potter) and still survives, bleeding and bruised and still subdues his opponents. This book is very entertaining and is definitely made for the movies. The plot however is weak. One CIA officer disappears, rescued by Bourne, assumes his old position because Bourne tells the interrogators that without a doubt, this is Mr. Martin Lindros, his close friend. Then several high ranking officers die after Mr. Lindros assumes his old position in the CIA. Who would you think is the first suspect? Come on!. If this book has a sequel, please indulge in Mr. Bourne's intimate life. Poor guy, Marie died and he is having flashbacks and persecutions for not having saved her. He has been to shrinks and is losing his mind. Give him a break and a little spice in his life too. Soraya is one character who can change his rotten world.

Not quite there yet...

Here are the three things you have to deal with in this audio book:
1) The narrator has a different delivery than some of the others. It needs some getting used to.
2) The book is unnecessarily long and even though I don't like anyone deciding how to abridge my titles, this one could have benefited from a few cuts.
3) Most of all however, this book needed an editor. The phrase "At length" is used innumerable times and there are gems such as "The evidence was evident"...

As for the story, it's convoluted enough with quite a few surprises and bodies along the way.

The Bourne Betrayal

A book that keeps you on your toes guessing. It was a true betrayal, even bourne for once was deceived against his better judgement.

Freaking fantastic (Again)

If you like the other Bourne books or Ludlum, get this book! It is every bit as good as any of the others! The plot and action are great. Just great!

A passable book that could be put down

Would you try another book from Eric Van Lustbader and/or Jeremy Davidson?

I am just feeding the "Jason Bourne"obsession, but this is not that engaging.

If you’ve listened to books by Eric Van Lustbader before, how does this one compare?

This is slightly better than the previous Bourne Legacy.

Did Jeremy Davidson do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Mr Davidson did a good job with the text he had.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

I would watch it on a wet Saturday from home, but this wouldn't draw me to the theaters.

Great thriller! Must listen to before the movie is in theaters! Matt Damon is Bourne!
I hope the movie is as good as the book!!
