Publisher's summary

Lights! Camera! Reed! That's right - Reed Ferguson, the intrepid hero of This Doesn't Happen in the Movies, is back. A mysterious death. A brother searching for the truth. A devious ex-wife. Real estate shenanigans. More danger for Reed than a film noir plot.

Film Memorabilia Anyone??

Reed Ferguson is back in the second installment of this detective noir series. Budding detective, Reed, is approached by the brother of a real estate agent who was found dead off a biking trail in the mountains. The brother questions the determination of accidental death or suicide and asks Reed to investigate. As Reed investigates those in the victim’s life he is drawn into a confusing and mysterious house sale, a greedy ex-wife, and perplexing links to film noir memorabilia. Attacks on Reed and those close to him add more mystery to the investigation.

This installment was a enjoyable as the first. We get to see more of the Tres brothers who bring a much needed dose of humor to the story. Reed’s wannabe romance with his neighbor is also moved another step forward. The film noire flavor of this series is very enjoyable and the mystery is intriguing. I have thoroughly enjoyed these books and look forward to the next in the series.

As usual, Johnny Peppers is a delight to listen to. His voice fits in so well with the noir feel of the story. He is easy on the ears and clearly voices the characters. He brings life to the story.

I fully recommend this series if you like a noir, Raymond Chandlerish mystery.

Great story and narration

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Great story and narrator is clear and even changes voices.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Reed seems to be a gentleman and has some morals.

What about Johnny Peppers’s performance did you like?

Mr. Peppers is easy to listen to and does a great job changing voices for the characters. It gives them more personality.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It was not an option for me to listen to in one sitting, but I could easily have done so because of the story and narrator.

Any additional comments?

Great story and a narrator that is easy on the ears.

I am hooked

I love the old film noir detective stories. It's great getting to read new stories in the same genre.

Reel Estate Rip off

This is a good easy listening mystery. I like Reed he's good but not the superhero type. It's easy to follow the story. This is a good series. I'm doing them in order I'm not sure if that's necessary. Johnny Peppers does a great job narrating this book. If my review is any help will you please click on the helpful link below. Thank you.

Good Noir Mystery

A good noir plot Reed wanting a quiet weekend. Till a brother wants answers to who killed his brother. Seems poor as a church mouse, yet he brother had an expensive poster. There is comedy around with the .goofball brothers. With quirky neighbor, ads to the enjoyment of these.
