Publisher's summary

Best-selling author Andrew Peterson is back with a heart-stopping fourth installment of his wildly popular Nathan McBride series.

When a mysterious note referencing a top-secret US operation is tossed over the wall of the embassy in Nicaragua, Nathan McBride and his old pal Harv are called out of retirement by CIA Director Rebecca Cantrell and sent to Central America. Cantrell wants the situation resolved quickly and knows that Nathan is the man to do it; after all, he has a history with the place. The jungle he and Harv are about to land in is the same one that Nathan barely escaped with his life decades before, an ordeal that left him physically and psychologically scarred. To make it out alive a second time, Nathan will have to face down his own demons and square off with a ruthless killer who learned from the best, Nathan himself.

Nathan McBride Book 6 will be released on Nov. 1

Andrew Peterson's excellent Nathan McBride espionage series will receive an addition, Right to Kill, on November 1. This series started strong with First to Kill in 2009 and has continued to get even better with each addition. The first 4 books in the series are currently very low priced at Amazon using Whispersync for Voice (Kindle + Audible versions). Dick Hill narrates all of the novels in the Nathan McBride series.

Not Bad

What made the experience of listening to Ready to Kill the most enjoyable?

The fact that it's a Nathan McBride novel and because Dick Hill is the narrater.

Any additional comments?

This is not a bad book, although I'd prefer more Nathan and Harv in it like the previous ones. I felt focusing on Viper weakened the story a bit, unless Peterson intends to use Viper again in the next book. Narrater was fantastic and the action and revelations are definitely drawing.

If you like military stuff like I do, this does a very nice balancing job between this, action and a good storyline. This is less personal than the other three, but the last scenes are closer of the previous books, more personal and it's quite touching.

But I'll still be sitting on the edge of my seat for the next one.

Nathan is back

Would you listen to Ready to Kill again? Why?

If I had not read the previous books in the series, I would have been a bit more disappointed. Not one of the better books in this series.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The plot was interesting but not with the action that one would be use to from the other books in the series

What about Dick Hill’s performance did you like?

Always a good listen with Dick Hill

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Memories of my past, by Nathan McBride

Any additional comments?

I hope that book 5 is more explosive then book 4

Very nice read! beyond just a sniper read

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would Highly recommend it, I read/listened to all of his books and he keeps progressing as an esteblished writer, I can't wait for the next one.

What did you like best about this story?

Mr Peterson is able to create real life characters, not just super heros but real people from flesh and blood with their own demons. Even the bad people are not pure evil.

What does Dick Hill bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Dick Hill is a master of bringing the story. when you close your eyes you are in the story (no closing the eyes while driving).

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The last chapters where the story becomes human between hunter and hunted

Excellent Story and Performance

If you could sum up Ready to Kill in three words, what would they be?

Non-stop action.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Nathan McBride

What about Dick Hill’s performance did you like?

He's truly an amazing performer. He's able to do nuances of so many voices and dialects. He's subtle. But the emotion pours out of him. He really captures the emotion of the characters. Super performer!

good installment

I have read all of the Nathan McBride books. this was a good one. It mostly had just Nathan and Harve -- They go back to Nicaragua where Nathan was tortured so long ago.

They do super stuff and save the day. I was not sure why the CIA was involved but all and all a good action book

very entertainging

I love the adventure and story lines that this story had. I found the struggle Nathan went through in the mine showed me a lot of what our veterans might be going through. the friendship with Harvey is so real and deepens with each adventure. this book kept true to that same consistancy

Not as good as the first three

Would you try another book from Andrew Peterson and/or Dick Hill?

Yes, I would try another. I really enjoyed the first three books in this series. This book was OK, but it got too tied up with the battle details for my taste. Dick Hill did a great job as usual.

If you’ve listened to books by Andrew Peterson before, how does this one compare?

His first three books were better.

Ready to Bore to Death

Any additional comments?

This is the weakest book in the series. The plot is thin and many of the firefight sequences seem dragged out. This story would have worked better as a shorter novella.

The narration is on par with the previous books in the series. No complaints there, but this was the first audio book that I sped up the playback on to move through some of the sequences to save time.

While there is a decent reveal at the end of the book and a cute ending, the story just takes too long to get there.

If you are a fan of this series, then go ahead and read it, just don't expect this to be on par with the previous books.

Another solid adventure with Nathan McBride

This is the third Nathan NcBride story I've listened to on Audible (Amazon didn't have the second book available). This is my favorite in the series so far. Well-written story, well-developed character. I enjoyed the suspense and the way Nathan continuously revises his strategy as the situation changes.

I have only one complaint about the audio. When speaking in character, the Voice actor goes down in town at the end of each sentence, and that impacts the portrayal of the characters, making them sound tired every time they speak. Since Nathan is written as a positive person, this doesn't sound right to me.I understand that the characters become more tired throughout the story, but I don't think they should sound that way from page 1.
