Publisher's summary

Few can rival attorney Andy Carpenter's affection for golden retrievers, especially his own beloved Tara. After he astonishes a New Jersey courtroom by successfully appealing another golden's death sentence, Andy discovers that this gentle dog is a key witness to a murder that took place five years before. Andy pushes the boundaries of the law even further as he struggles to free an innocent man by convincing an incredulous jury to take canine testimony seriously. It will take all the tricks Andy's fertile mind can conceive to get to the bottom of a remarkable chain of impersonations and murder, and to save a dog's life - and his own - in the process.

Entertaining, but ....

I really like the author. He is very humorous, but I did not like the ending of the book. It could be have been a lot better. Its worth the read through.

Good book

What made the experience of listening to Play Dead the most enjoyable?

A good mix of characters and good story line.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Although this plot was good, I pride myself on trying to figure out the ending of murder mysteries before the end of the book. I got this one about half way through, so I was on the edge of my seat to see if I was correct. (I was)

Have you listened to any of Grover Gardner’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was my first experience with Gardner. He took a little getting use to; strange voice.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The dog knows!!

Any additional comments?

Good book, I will listen to the author and narrator again.

A great read

This is another great book in the Andy Carpenter series. I love the way it's written and I especially love the way it's preformed.

Love love love this series!

What did you love best about Play Dead?

I love the humour and the always great storyline. I look forward to all of his books and appreciate as a dog lover his stories.

What does Grover Gardner bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I feel like he IS Andy Carpenter and David Rosenfelt all in one. He is just as much the reason why I enjoy this series as much as the writing. The way he delivers is perfect!

As always - great listen and one of my favorites

Another Andy Carpenter book in the bag.
I have to say that this one is one of my favorites and I think it is because I could not figure out the "who dunnit".
As always, the narration was great.

I have added Rosenfelt to my top 5 list

I like this author because he uses humor and intelligence in his stories. I like the dog, Tara and his animal lover side. There are always multiple focal points in his stories that make things fast paced and interesting. The concept of a lawyer who is independently wealthy and only takes cases that touch his heartstrings puts him in a class of his own. I hope the author keeps the stories coming!

Excellent

I don't even like dogs and I loved this book. Very dry sense of humor. Narrator was great too.
