But by the time Alex reaches Canyon Oaks Psychiatric Hospital, Jamey is gone, surfacing a day later in the hands of the police, who believe Jamey is the infamous Lavender Slasher, a psychotic serial killer.
Wooed by a high-powered attorney to build a defense, Alex will get a chance to do what he couldn't five years ago. If you've never read a Repairman Jack novel, this is the place to begin. It's 1990. A twenty-one-year-old named Jack has dropped out of college, leaving his old life behind to build a new one in New York City. Manhattan's rough edges are jagged enough to shred any unwary newcomer, but perhaps not one who is determined to stay off the grid, at any cost, in the busiest metropolis on earth. And to do so, he'll have to take jobs of a less than legal nature.

Happiness is finding a new( to me) Alex Delaware novel.
I wholly enjoyed this listen. Having said that, clearly Dr. Kellerman has improved as a story teller over the course of this series. Now his tales remind me of Rex Stout in his prime. Finally, oh how I would rejoice in hearing Mr. Rubinstein vocalize this novel, for he is undoubtedly the true voice of Alex Delaware et al

A bit hard to follow and believe, but..
I'll probably be back or more of this series. I find the psychological discussions interesting, when I didn't think I would. I like the friendship between Milo and the protagonist more than I understand the relationship between the protagonist and his girlfriend. The complexity of the plot and the unreality of it were an interference, so that's why it gets 4 stars. The performance, the characters, and the tone were absorbing. If this writer matures from book to book, I'm pretty sure I'll like the later books a lot more, given that this one has promise.

Alex Delaware - he's the main character
Which scene was your favorite?
Any scene with MIlo - he's the heart and soul of the story
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Exciting
Mr. Kellerman again allows the character to develop so the reader has a good understanding of the main characters’ development and why he is in so much pain. at the end of the story it ends with hope for the character.
