When linguist Andrew Dennison is yanked from his bed by the Secret Service and taken to a top secret facility in the desert, he has no idea he's been brought there to translate the words of an ancient demon.

He joins pretty but cold veterinarian Sun Jones, eccentric molecular biologist Dr. Frank Belgium, and a hodge-podge of religious, military, and science personnel to try and figure out if the creature is, indeed, Satan.

But things quickly go bad, and very soon Andy isn't just fighting for his life, but the lives of everyone on earth…

It was exciting creative And all-around creepy and enough twists and turns to keep you guessing . Luke Daniels did an excellent job , and Bub sounded terrifying the book throws a lot of questions that you and me use it to your imagination on certain things which is nice if you're looking for a good scary adventure this is your book

It feels like a movie I would watch with my sister( she a fun sister)

Absolute fan now of J.A. Konrath. Was pleasantly made aware of his books and can't put them down. This book is for the true imaginative horror fans. Vivid, gruesome, and delightful if you can stomach it... You are welcome and warned. Read with lights on!

Amazing... Fan for life

I did not plan to enjoy this book or it's characters. I went into this wanting a throw away horror novel that tortured it's characters and nothing else. Unfortunately....well fortunately I found myself enjoying the world building, the science, and the excellent ways the author handled the subject matter.

Not once did I feel my intelligence being insulted and the author did an excellent job navigating around the various cliches and boring writing conventions that plague most horror novels.

If I had to give one bit of criticism it would be with how the romance between the two leads begins. It's awkward and a little contrived but quickly matures into something more mature and believable within a few chapters.

Overall I was very happy and will be continuing to the sequel Holes in the Ground with great anticipation.

Humorous, gory, and just a little bit genre savvy.

This book isn’t a total loss. The narrator did an excellent job and the writing was decent. The story starts off on a good footing with a fun mystery and building sense of dread. However I thought it falls a bit flat in its delivery. The second half of the book devolved from “techno-thriller” to cheesy B monster movie pretty quickly. The ending was pretty standard.

If you’re like me and struggle to find decent horror content then this book will at the least tide you over. It was a quick listen so overall I would give it a 3.5/5. Not bad at all, but not the greatest either.

Started off strong!

Not a masterful work of literature, but it’s honestly just a fun book. Starts a little slow as the story is built but the payoff in the last third of the book is well worth it. Narration is on point as well.

A lot of fun
