Publisher's summary

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

Only a handful of fictional characters are recognized by first name alone. Dean Koontz’s Odd Thomas is one such literary hero, who has come alive in listeners’ imaginations as he explores the greatest mysteries of this world and the next with his inimitable wit, heart, and quiet gallantry. Now Koontz follows Odd as he is drawn onward, to a destiny he cannot imagine. Haunted by dreams of an all-encompassing red tide, Odd is pulled inexorably to the sea, to a small California coastal town where nothing is as it seems.

Odd Hours

What made the experience of listening to Odd Hours the most enjoyable?

I just love Odd Thomas. Some of the stories really stretch your imagination, but that's Odd Thomas' world. He sees the dead. Now, he's meets a mysterious young woman, Anna Maria, who is, it seems, more than she appears to be. What she is, we're not sure yet. While some may find the lack of information on her frustrating, that's just one of the things I love about Odd Thomas stories. I have confidence we will eventually know all about her.

This book deals with some mysterious goings on with the town people. Odd is almost immediately plunged into danger and in the thick of it. We meet some kind people who assist Odd along the way and who touch us almost as much as they touch Odd.

The other great thing about the Odd Thomas audio books is David Aaron Baker's reading of the story. He embodies Odd Thomas and, for me at least, no one else will do.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Hutch Hutherson is one of the characters in Odd's life right now. He's Odd's employer, a character in his own right, who ultimately sees Odd as the son he never had. Loved Hutch.

What does David Aaron Baker bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He is Odd Thomas. He sounds befuddled when Odd is, amused, alarmed just the way you see Odd Thomas reacting. Excellent reader.

Odd is at it all over again!

I love the series of Odd Thomas. The way he's in touch with the dead and his relentless desire to save them is what grabs my attention. There's time's I wish that I were Odd Thomas LOL

A little on the fence

I found myself struggling a bit with this one. I'm a huge Odd Thomas fan, and really wanted to get into this book, but some parts just did not hold my interest. I did overall enjoy the read, finding myself smiling by the end, but I did struggle through it a bit.

Awesome book!

This book captivated me, just as the first three books did. I enjoy the voices, the inflections, and the stories.

Great performance, so-so story

As always, the reader does an excellent job bringing the characters to life. But nukes feel like a bit of a stretch for a storyline.

Great continuation of a great series!

Very interesting story that keeps you guessing at what happens next. Pretty clean language and non-vulgar.

the world of Odd Thomas is practically brimming with character. each story keeps you guessing as Koontz slowly unravels each mystery, while at the same time leaving questions looming that keep the reader coming back for more.

I'm hooked on Odd!

I love this character and his adventures. This was better than "Brother Odd". Koontz's characters are kooky and interesting and his stories are full of twists. If you haven't tried an Odd Thomas novel yet start with the first one but be sure to read this one.
