Publisher's summary

Audie Award Nominee, Best Thriller/Suspense Category, 2013

Once presided over by a flamboyant Hollywood mogul during the Roaring ’20s, the magnificent West Coast property known as Roseland is now home to a reclusive billionaire financier and his faithful servants. And, for the moment, it’s also a port in the storm for Odd Thomas and his traveling companion, the inscrutably charming Annamaria.

In the wake of Odd’s most recent clash with lethal adversaries, the opulent manor’s comforts should be welcome. But there’s far more to Roseland than meets even the extraordinary eye of Odd, who soon suspects it may be more hell than haven.

A harrowing taste of Roseland’s terrors convinces Odd that it’s time to hit the road again. Still, the prescient Annamaria insists that they’ve been led there for a reason. Just how deep and dreadful are the mysteries Roseland and her masters have kept for nearly a century? And what consequences await whoever is brave, or mad, enough to confront the most profound breed of evil? Odd only knows. Like his acclaimed creator, the irresistible Odd Thomas is in top-notch form - as he takes on what may well be the most terrifying challenge yet in his curious career.

What an Imagination

We all know Dean Koontz has an imagination, but, to combine so many different ideas, crazy!! Also, with the Odd series, its amazing how a tragic situation, can be turning into a comical one.
i liked the Jane series and now the Odd.

What a great character

What did you love best about Odd Apocalypse?

I really like the character and Koontz writes these stories with a great mixture of innocence, witt and sarcasm. It is a great story to just escape and let the story develop. I enjoy the narrator's voice in all the Odd stories. I have never selected books by Narrator before but if I ever go that route, I will look at other authors that David Aaron Baker has read first.

a little too far fetched even for Odd.

Would you consider the audio edition of Odd Apocalypse to be better than the print version?

Yes and no, probably would feel the same about both.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Possibly more relaxed narration at first.

Have you listened to any of David Aaron Baker’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Not as good

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

not really but wanted to finish it.

On the dark side

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes and no...I enjoy the Odd series but, this one was a little to much on the dark side. I found myself drafting in and out of the story. It did not grab me the way the previous books had me wanting more.

Has Odd Apocalypse turned you off from other books in this genre?

No...even though I think the author miss the mark in my opinion I will try another Odd book.

Have you listened to any of David Aaron Baker’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, I believe his performance was great probably why I stayed with the story to the end.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No a chance.

Any additional comments?

I think the back stories needed to be developed more before bring them into the big picture. Too much darkness all the way to the end. I left this novel with many unanswered questions and too much death and mutilated bodies (especially women).

The point where Odd realizes what is going on

Which scene was your favorite?

The last scene because I know there will be another.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No, but I eally enjoyed the book as I have all of the Odd books, I cant wait for the next one, please hurry Dean.

Any additional comments?

Excelent book the Odd Thomas book are my favorite Koontz books and I am propetualy waiting for the next Odd adventures. I found myself disapointed at the end not because of the story but because it was over, and I so wanted to continue on with Odd's story.

I know the author shouold always leave us wanting more but I would have no problem listening to 30 or even 40hrs of an Odd story.

Good- But doesn't measure up to previous plots

Would you listen to Odd Apocalypse again? Why?

Odd is hard to resist! As always, Koontz's character Odd is compelling . . . this story-line, however, falls a litter short of previous works. That won;t stop me from reading the next one though!

Would you be willing to try another book from Dean Koontz? Why or why not?

I will most certainly read more from Dean Koontz, I truly enjoy his prose style and characters.

Which character – as performed by David Aaron Baker – was your favorite?

Its ok

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would recommend this if you have read the series. But I do recommend that you read the one published after this one but takes place before.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

I would have liked a better ending there is still no answers about the girl and im not clear were its going. Almost disinterested at this point, but ill still end up getting the next to find out. Hope this helps a little.

Koontz and Odd do it again!

Would you consider the audio edition of Odd Apocalypse to be better than the print version?

YES! It's like story time in grade school. As an OTR trucker audio books keep me awake and alert and the miles just melt away.

What did you like best about this story?

The action and the parts where Odd Thomas is repeating the foul language directed at him but in his own innocent non-X rated way.

Which scene was your favorite?

There was no favorite scene really....the whole book was totally enjoyable!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The above mentioned swear word interpretations made me laugh out loud!

Any additional comments?

David Aaron Baker the reader has perfectly captured the character of Odd Thomas. I have a perfect picture of Odd in my head!

Odd Thomas continues

Another 'oddly' entertaining entry in the Odd Thomas series. The narrator is perfect for the character.
