Publisher's summary

Andy Carpenter gains possession of an adorable Bernese puppy whose owner was brutally murdered. Few can rival Andy's affection for dogs, and he will do whatever it takes to insure that this little pup doesn't fall into the wrong hands. However, his playful new friend is valued by several people, many of whom are willing to resort to violence to get what they want.

It will take more than Andy's usual courtroom theatrics to save this dog, including a little help from his beloved Golden Retriever, Tara. Andy soon discovers that anyone around him is in danger, including his longtime girlfriend, Laurie, and he will have to muster all of his wits to save those he holds most dear.

Love this author

This installment isn't the best of the Andy Carpenter series, but it is still wonderful. It is a tad different because it "resolves" some things (no hints) for some characters I have come to "care" about. I think Grover Gardner is one of the best narrators out there. This story doesn't solve the world's problems, but it is an interesting and entertaining yarn. I love the humor and familiarity of the characters. I've read them all and look forward to the next one by Mr. Rosenfelt.

Love it! Love it! Love it!

What a fun book! I do appreciate the irreverance of the main character and the narrator does a bang-up job of bringing the character to live. It is not the most suspenseful crime drama, and the story is a bit lacking, but over all it is a great "read."

Humor abounds

Would you consider the audio edition of New Tricks to be better than the print version?

I live these stories - the author has the same sense of humor that I do - very enjoyable - good mystery with twists and turns.

What does Grover Gardner bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

listened to it for the author and the narrator.

I think I picked this volume for the author and the narrator. The story was a little to chopped for me, compared to some of the other stories from this author.

"Waggie", a Metronome for Happiness

Would you consider the audio edition of New Tricks to be better than the print version?

yes, as the reader's timing of the author's work is spot on. As other reviewers said, this will make you feel good, and laugh out loud.
note: I do use the new1.25x speed to match the author's intensions.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I purchased as I was looking for a great dog series. I didn't start with book 1 as it didn't really indicate the dog portion of the series. I felt a bit let down as Tara was barely featured in this book, but Waggie somewhat made up for it.

Which scene was your favorite?

Descriptions of Waggie's playing. Marcus's pizza sandwich! Good old fashion tasteful humor.
