Publisher's summary

At a summons from Detective Sergeant Frank Malloy, midwife Sarah Brandt arrives at the elegant home of famed magnetic healer Edmund Blackwell to find his wife in labor - and the good doctor dead from an apparent suicide. Only Malloy sees what no one else wants to: that Blackwell was murdered in his own home.

After a successful delivery, the Blackwell baby falls mysteriously ill. Relying on her nurse's training and woman's intuition, Sarah discovers the source of the baby's sickness and uncovers a scandal that leads Malloy's investigation down a gilded path paved with greed, deception, and desire.

I am so happy I stuck it out!

It’s official: I like this series and I’ve added all future instalments onto my “to read” list. I can’t wait to dig into Book 4!

This third “interval” in the lives of Frank and Sarah didn’t cover as much of their personal lives as I would have liked, but after 3 books I am still interested and I still really want to know what happens next! I’m hooked.

The murder story line in this instalment was good too. It kept me interested and guessing (or rather: guessing then re-guessing, and then changing my mind back again, then guessing again, then changing my mind back to my first suspect, then wondering if that was too obvious so I changed my mind again…) until the very end.

This series is up to 19 books so I’ll be entertained for quite a while to come. YEAH!

Terrible reader

Enjoyed the story, but reader blatantly mispronounced many words. The New York symingtons would have been horrified.

Not a fan of the Narrator.

What did you like best about Murder on Gramercy Park? What did you like least?

I listen to a lot of period mysteries but the narrator doesn't do any character voice variations.
It's like she is just reading the book as quickly as possible to get through the story.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

no

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Callie Beaulieu?

no

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

maybe

Another good mystery

Once again, the mystery and writing are very good. Just when I assumed I knew who the murderer was, the story took my predictions in another direction, and then another. The narration is still an unusual fit, but she’s getting better with mood and tone. And I’m getting used to her. I’ve listened to samples later in the series and realize I like Callie’s voice better then the next narrator’s voice.

Thrilling and suspenseful

A favorite author with a great cast of characters. Has you guessing on who may have committed the crime and also, adds a bit of whimsical humor along the way. Keeps you coming back for more!

Very Good Historical Murder Mystery

I've listened to several in this series and enjoy them a lot. This one centered on the death of Edmund Blackwell, a healer that uses unusual methods, who at first is suspected of committing suicide. Well worth the listen.

Sounds like A machine reading.

Almost unbearable to listen to this narrator. The story is interesting so far, but I just meant get past the unnatural tone and pace of the reader. Just horrible.
