main character painfully immature

the main character was immature, repetative and self centered, ruined what could have been an enjoyable story

Awful, so disappointing

What happened? I loved the first book. This book was painful. I did not like the main character. she continued to butcher French, took no interest in improving herself and the flat, Midwestern accent was irritating. The plot was long, winding and took forever to get to the point. The editor needs to do a better job keeping the author on the straight and narrow of the story line. Grace and Windsor, another set of characters are horrible parents and self- centered people. I couldn't stand them either. Please get someone else to read. Each character's voice seemed like acting, so I never got pulled into the story. Skip this one.

Murder a la Carte?

At the end the plot gelled nicely, but it took sooo long to get there. The “French” accents were annoying because the varied from inaudible to weird having no resemblance to a French speaker at all. The characters were whiney, contrived, and very unsympathetic. The food sounded wonderful. The amount of alcohol consumed would have everyone terribly ill and nonfunctional. The setting was wonderful. Who can resist a vineyard in Provence? But the author made a mockery of winemaking. Harvesting grapes and having drinkable wine two weeks later is a real stretch of reality. This series is off my menu. This book was a waste of time.
