I listened to 'Some Wildflower in my Heart", by Jamie Langston Turner, and fell in love with Cynthia Darlow's reading. Looking for more of her work I found this book. I have been an ardent watcher of the T.V series and was intrigued to have the opportunity to listened to something I had viewed, narrated by somebody I wanted to hear more. The book was true to the show, and Cynthia was true to the actress/main character. Same person?? It took me quite a few minutes to discern any difference. I long to hear more good books read by this narrator.
This was a fun, charming book to listen to. It had interesting characters that you wanted to learn about and seemed to be over far too quickly. I recommend this to any Murder, She Wrote fan!
I never watched the television series but have found the "Murder She Wrote" book series, as a whole, a joy to read. If you get a bit tired of blood and gore but appreciate a good mystery, this is the series for you. "A Slaying In Savannah" continues to be an excellent part of the series with an enjoyable cast of characters, an interesting location and good plot. I would have rated the book higher but the narration did not live up to the quality of the book. Still, this is an ideal book to take on travel.
I think you'll love this audio!! I love both the TV series and the books and was delighted to find this in audio form. I would have given this audio 5 stars, but I had a slightly hard time differentiating between some of the characters read by Cynthia Darlow. Other than that, it was great! Like the books, I couldn't put it down and finished listening to the book in one sitting.
I highly recommend this audio and hope there will be more unabridged stories to come!!!
I might in a few years time. The plot twists were what made it fun for me. I'd need some time to let them fade in my memory before I listened to the story again.
Jessica Fletcher. I enjoyed Angela Lansbury's portrayal of her in the TV series. When I read this series I see Angela as Jessica in my mind's eye. Jessica is intelligent, thoughtful, classy, and sensible (most of the time).
Once the "voices" of the characters were established, the performance was seamless for me. I forgot it was one person performing all of them.
I did get very caught up in the story. I stayed up past my usual bed time to listen to the last hour.
I've enjoyed all the books of this series. When I'm in the mood for a good story, "Murder She Wrote" always satisfies me. This story held a few more surprises than usual. For me it was one of the best of the series.
Yes I would listen to this book over and over again. I love the series and have all the paperbacks but a couple that audible has that are new. This one kept me on the edge of my seat until the end. I have read all the paperbacks over time and enjoyed knowing all the characters personally.
When Jessica was called to the reading of the will and she would be given !M dollars if she could solve a 40 year old mystery. I was not sure who the murderer was till the very end and so it kept me glued to my earphones until the end. When it was Tilly I was surprised as she was the one who had passed away. I thought sure it was one of the boyfriends during that period. The ghost hunters added a little suspense to the drama as well.
She sounds just like you would think Jessica Fletcher would actually sound like. I loved listening to her New England voices and she was a perfect choice for this series. Angela Landsbury and Cynthia Darlow have similar voices and inflections, so it was like hearing Angela L. reading to me. It was awesome
The same as the book.
They need to put new ones on audible as they come out. I know I certainly would buy them. The real Jessica Fletcher and Donald Bain are excellent authors. Everything is clear and in te moment.
I never get borred with murder she wrote book I usually read on ereader but I thought I would try audible.com enyoyed it very much.
