Publisher's summary

James Patterson's scariest, sexiest stand-alone thriller since The Quickie.

Ben isn't like most people. Unable to control his racing thoughts, he's a man consumed by his obsessions: movies, motorcycles, presidential trivia - and Diana Hotchkiss, a beautiful woman Ben knows he can never have.

When Diana is found dead outside her apartment, Ben's infatuation drives him on a hunt to find out what happened to the love of his life.

Ben soon discovers that the woman he pined for was hiding a shocking double life. And now someone is out to stop Ben from uncovering the truth about Diana's illicit affairs.

In his most heart-pumping thriller yet, James Patterson plunges us into the depths of a mind tortured by paranoia and obsession, on an action-packed chase through a world of danger and deceit.

Narrator drops an "i" bomb

This narrator is IRRITATING, INCOMPETENT and INEPT.

The blame rests with you, Patterson. Listen to your chosen narrators. This loyal reader and listener is ticked.

What would have made Mistress better?

Normally I am into the book as soon as it starts with James Patterson.

Voice is annoying.

Not Good

I listened to the whole book because I paid for it. It was my least favorite James Patterson book. The story line was really bad in my opinion.

Torture

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

In my opinion I could not recommend this book to anyone.

What was most disappointing about James Patterson and David Ellis ’s story?

The book is long and slow moving. Narration is whiny and annoying. Too many references to the Presidents (over and over), movie characters and other non relevant topics. Waterboarding at Gitmo would be less painful.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Awful narration. What’s with the sound effects, even if I could put up with the squeaking door but police sirens, car horns, and squealing brakes? I listen to audiobooks while driving. Is anyone thinking?

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Frustration and hope that it would end. If I had another book I would have never finished it.

Disappointing!

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The narrator was just awful! The pitch in his voice was so unbearable, I had to stop listening to the book. The storyline was awful as well. Do not waste your money or credit like I did!

What do you think your next listen will be?

A Stephen King novel or one of the Fatal books.

What didn’t you like about Kevin T. Collins’s performance?

The pitch or variation in his voice was too high and I just couldn't bear it.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Mistress?

Perhaps if the narrator was replaced maybe the book will be bearable.

Any additional comments?

I wish I could get reimbursed my credit.

I'm asking for a credit...

Really an awful book. Remove the nonsensical movie and trivia quotes, the story could be told in about 3 hours. And, the story is pretty lame. Break the James Patterson money machine and ask for your money back.

Oh James….shame on you

What disappointed you about Mistress?

Just about everything. The main character was supposed to be in mortal danger throughout the book yet he was just…silly. You couldn't be frightened for him couldn't root for him. He was just awful. THe non-stop references to old movies and cancelled TV shows was simply annoying.

What could James Patterson and David Ellis have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Not have tried to make it a comedy if they wanted me to take it seriously

What about Kevin T. Collins’s performance did you like?

He was actually very good. He was full of expression and had he been narrating another book I may well have enjoyed him.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment and irritation

Any additional comments?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE James Patterson. But this book was a total disappointment
