Editorial reviews

Editors Select, March 2014 - While not my go-to genre, every now and then I like to sit back and take in a good mystery/thriller. So, when I saw that Harlan Coben was coming out with a new stand-alone novel, I felt it was the perfect time to try out something new from an author I knew well by reputation (through countless rave reviews from Audible members) but never read or listened to personally. Missing Youwas exactly what I was hoping for: a cleverly conceived, suspenseful thrill-ride with cops and bad guys. There's a taken-from-the-headlines sense to the story where 40-year-old NYPD detective, Kat Donovan, discovers an old love and stumbles upon a possible gateway into a mysterious crime world through an online dating site her friend signs her up for. If you are looking for some smart entertainment and the kind of book you just can't put down, I can highly recommend Missing You. For anyone who is already a Coben fan, Missing You offers something new in a strong female protagonist, and a strong female narrator in January LaVoy to boot! Tricia, Audible Editor

Good lockdown entertainment...

I enjoyed the story and the way it was told.. The story would have worked better without some of the detail in chapter 1. But overall it's a story easily enjoyed during our Corvid restrictions..

After the book six years I did not think the author could do better

But he has! This book is suspenseful, gripping, grounded in reality and real human emotions. I literally could not stop listening!

Fantastic job Harlan Coben!!!

I don’t want to forget the narrator... January Lavoy, simply spell binding👍🏾

Good story but so so ending.

I liked the narrator. She did a good job of holding the pace and read well. I liked the authors way of giving a perspective from each of the main players. That created more interest for me. I didn't buy the lame stuff, for instance - the overlooking of glaring instances that should have been looked into as an investigating cop. We are supposed to buy into the heart broken theory that keeps her from doing a good job investigating the website clues. And though the ending was a twist and unexpected, it just didnt fit well, sort of contrived because there wasn't anything better to make as a twist.

It was just Okay

I normally love all of the Twists in Coben's books that keep you guessing. This did not feel like a Coben book to me. Very repetitive and lots of dialogue that seemed like filler. The end was good, I just feel like I spent a lot of time trying to get to the twist with not much in between. Not a favorite, but it was okay.

Kept me on edge of seat

Very entertaining book. A little graphic at the end but there were times I couldn't wait to get in my car to listen! The reader was great!!! She used her voice very well to express emotion. I really enjoyed this book.

drawn out

While this book has murder, mystery, and intrigue I found it moved way too slow for me for the first 3/4's of the book..

Police detective Cat, finds her ex fiance on a dating website, only to lead to a series of murders that are so intertwined that you never know who the good guys are and who they aren't until the very end.

Far fetched but still captivating

Extremely well written, very much the audible equivalent of a page turner.

Recommended for Coban fans and mystery/ crime genre readers.
