Publisher's Summary

It's almost Labor Day, and the end of summer could mean the end of someone's life in this exciting sequel to Chris Grabenstein's Tilt-a-Whirl.

Young Danny Boyle, the part-time summer cop "down the shore" in Sea Haven, New Jersey, gets taken on a wild ride when he and his longtime beach buddies become the unwitting targets of a madman's twisted scheme for revenge. Fortunately, John Ceepak, the cop with a soldier's unshakable code of honor, stays at Danny's side to help him negotiate the quick twists and turns that threaten to destroy his life, his friends, and everything about the world he loves.

Whipping from the boardwalk to the beach and back again, Mad Mouse keeps zigging and zagging at a breakneck pace, all the way to the surprising finish.

Don't miss other adventures featuring Sea Haven's finest, including the first book in the series, Tilt-a-Whirl, and the third, Whack-a-Mole.

I'm a crippeled old warrior with difficulty typing/writing etc. I used to love reading books, and have read many. I now love audio books.

    "Whack a Mole"

Laughed my butt off while at the same time being strung along by the Author's, Chris Grabenstein, plot at a crisp pace. The book is so entertaining that I may be forced to visit the New Jersey coast line in summer just to get the real flavor of the book. I am now drawn into the lives of the characters and can't wait for the next book to come out. Thank you Chris Grabenstein.

"This book will crack you up!"

Mad Mouse has just the right blending of humor, pathos, and suspense. The author paints vivid images of the characters and the spaces they inhabit - you just feel like you are there on the over-commercialized New Jersey beach, smelling the smells and noticing the odd things that pop up in that culture. One minute you are laughing at something outrageous or familiar, the next moment your are hearing bullets whiz by. Be sure to start with the first book in this series, Tilt-a-Whirl, because the sequencing enhances your appreciation of the characters.

I love espionage, legal, and detective thrillers but listen to most genres. Very frequent reviews. No plot spoilers! Please excuse my typos!

    "Really fun murder mystery?"

After listening to several serious and intense novels, it was time to enjoy a John Ceepak and Danny Boyle light, wacky, and funny police "thriller" set at the beach town of Sea Haven, New Jersey. Mad Mouse is book 2 in the 8 novel John Ceepak series. All of the novels are in the first person of Danny Boyle and Jeff Woodman is his voice. I've listened to most of the books in the Ceepak series and recommend them highly for light and fun reading. It's no surprise that Chris Grabenstein was a stand up comedian long before he started writing books.

    "Very Enjoyable!"

I love the choice of narrator for these books. This one is even better than Tilt-a-whirl. This is a great summer beach listen. I enjoyed the story and characters very much. You feel like you are driving around a beach town being a spectator watching the characters in action. Satisfying ending too.

Incredible. Jeff Woodman does an amazing job with this incredibly fun and thrilling story. When he gets to the creepy parts, watch out -- your skin will start crawling! MAD MOUSE made my runs around Central Park a real roller coaster ride.

    "Fun Listening"

A great follow-up book to Tilt-A-Whirl. Easy listening with fun characters. I look forward to listening to Whack-A-Mole. You can also check out his website for a map of Sea Haven.

I don't usually rush out for all the "best sellers", but give each intriguing book/author a look. I have found many diamonds in the rough.

    "Seapack is back"

Danny, a fledgling police officer, and Seapack, a former MP and now a veteran detective, are on a mission to stop a sniper in their sleepy little town of Sea Haven. The sniper is smart, invisible and, for some unknown reason, targeting Danny's group of lifelong friends. Not one of his friends, in this tight knit group, can think of any possible reason that could have invoked this brutal unsolicited attack. Sea Haven is a cool, little costal town that relies on it's summer guests to see them through the colder seasons, so in order to keep the situation quiet Seapack and Danny do thier best to keep the investigation under wraps. However, in a small, gossipy town that is not always an easy thing to do.

A fast pace, good mystery with the return of all of the series regular characters. Jeff Woodman does an outstanding job narrating as usual, so if your looking for a clean, relaxing series this is a fun new fangled kind of cozy.

    "The Delayed Effects of Bullying"

Even a mad mouse can be dangerous when he chooses to attack. There is an axiom that the winner of the fight is the warrior who'll go farther to win than the rest; a high powered sniper rifle meets that definition nicely.
Danny Boyle and Clark Kent's cousin John Ceepak; Sea Haven's top cops face a sniper whose targets are Danny and his friends. As the story unravels we find out the chief reason behind the sniping is payback for an incidence of bullying when they were all in high school. The copyright date is 2006; so long before Newtown and long after Columbine, and I can't recall which mass shooting occurred in 2005 or 2006 so I'm not certain of the model he was using.
I found the case the author made against bullying was a little too blatant; could have been more subtle for sure, but it was effective. The way the shooter's father treated him was also effective in establishing how the kid had been set up as a target from an early age. I have the Ceepak/Boyle collection in it's entirety and though I don't fins any of the books top rate they are all good. You know what you're getting with Grabenstein and it's pretty good.

    "Great story and narration"
    Any additional comments?

As a kid I spent most of my summers at the Jersey shore. This is a trip down memory lane for me, fortunately minus the murders. The Ceepak books are great mysteries with terrific characters and one of the best audiobook narrators I have ever listened to. The added bonus is the author's attention to detail about NJ and the Jersey shore.

"The Ceepack series just gets better! Xxx"

I adored Tilter-Whirl and Mad Mouse absolutely topped it. With the development of the leading characters and introduction of new ones.

The story itself is riveting and keeps you guessing to the very end. I am extremely picky about books especially series. But I can't stop listening to the Ceepack series. over and over again. And now I have just got Whack-A - Mole too , can't wait to listen to that!

    "Far better than the First!"

The voice performance is enthralling, overall the characters are further fleshed out, and the female characters are far better used than in the first novel of the series.
I thoroughly enjoyed this case and look forward to the third installment.
