WHO DO YOU LOVE?

One question, a split-second decision, and Brian Darby lies dead on the kitchen floor. His wife, state police trooper Tessa Leoni, claims to have shot him in self-defense, and bears the bruises to back up her tale. For veteran detective D. D. Warren it should be an open-and-shut case. But where is their six-year-old daughter?

AND HOW FAR WOULD YOU GO . . .

As the homicide investigation ratchets into a frantic statewide search for a missing child, D. D. Warren must partner with former lover Bobby Dodge to break through the blue wall of police brotherhood, seeking to understand the inner workings of a trooper’s mind while also unearthing family secrets. Would a trained police officer truly shoot her own husband? And would a mother harm her own child?

. . . TO SAVE HER?

For Tessa Leoni, the worst has not yet happened. She is walking a tightrope, with nowhere to turn, no one to trust, as the clock ticks down to a terrifying deadline. She has one goal in sight, and she will use every ounce of her training, every trick at her disposal, to do what must be done. No sacrifice is too great, no action unthinkable. A mother knows who she loves. And all others will be made to pay.

Love you more . . .

"Tessa Leoni is a dedicated single mom when she is swept away by a man who turns out to be the wrong guy. Emotionally true, harrowing, and unputdownable. Brava, Lisa Gardner!" (Lisa Scottoline)
"A heart-pounding tale of family drama by the Mozart of thriller writers. I could not tear myself away." (Tess Gerritsen)

Surprising!!!

Very surprising twists and turns to the story. Just when I thought I had it figured out I would find out that I didn't. The story would take another turn. Very good ending. Looking forward to reading more by this author.

Loved one of the narrators -

The story seemed to start slow but in all honesty, I think I struggled with one of the narrators (for Tessa) rather then with the story. The narrator for Dee Dee was amazing and perfectly portrayed her feisty character.

All in all, good story and worth an audible
Credit.

Another excellent Lisa Gardner book!!!!

I really enjoyed this book. Once I was able to get into to it I was hooked and couldn't stop listening. Tessa the main character is a fierce and awesome trooper who wants nothing more than to find her missing daughter Sophie. Of course DD Warren the Sgt in charge thinks Tessa murdered her husband and her daughter. DD is blind to anything else and acts like a complete witch at times. In every book DD always focuses on the wrong guy and treats them like garbage. Just once I wish she'd admit her mistake and apologize. Show a bit of compassion. She's always so hard.
This book is definitely a must have. You will not be sorry, it's an excellent story and really grabs your attention right away. The narration is also excellent.

Mixed feelings

I downloaded this audio book because of its great reviews, and the plot did keep me guessing, but it seemed as if it kept the author guessing, too. It was as if she wrote the beginning, added on to it, then had to come up with situations and characters to explain Tessa Leoni's thoughts and actions. The situations seemed more improbable as the story progressed. I did like the two narrators to separate Tessa from Deedee. Without that, it would have been confusing. I'm not sure if I would recommend it or not.

Good story, but...

I found this story to be really good, except all the swearing really bothered me. It got to the point in the story where I was starting to wonder if the author knew other words. It was making her look unintelligent and not very creative in her descriptions. Don't get me wrong, I can understand using the F word in certain situations where the word makes sense and fits in context, but in this story it was used way too much even in places it wasn't needed to get the point across. I really liked the story line and it kept me wanting to finish the book which I did, but I won't recommend it to people I know because of the swearing. I feel it would offend them as it did me. I couldn't even listen to the book from my computer because I didn't want my kids to hear all the swearing. I probably won't listen to any more of Lisa Gardner's novels for this reason because I want a good story and I don't feel I should have to listen to someone else swear every two minutes. I know I am not the only one who feels this way either.

Good, but ....

This book started out really good and Lisa Gardner is an excellent storyteller. But this book seemed a little too over the top (I don't know how else to describe it) for me. The 'Tessa' narrator irritated me a bit, but not enough to distract from the story.

I didn't like how it all came together in the end. I guess I'm getting too old, but there was just too much violence in the end. I will, of course, still read Lisa Gardner but I'm not sure I'll read anymore stories that feature Tessa Leoni as the heroine.
