With more than 10 million copies in print worldwide, New York Times best-selling author Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series is a global phenomenon. Lord John and the Private Matter, starring one of the most popular Outlander characters, captures all the adventure and magic of the series while delivering a fresh tale that is utterly captivating.

Lord John is in a difficult spot. His cousin Olivia is engaged to marry the Honorable Joseph Trevelyan, but he has just observed something of a rather personal nature that, if confirmed, might put an end to any talk of marital bliss. Determined to investigate further, Lord John is distracted when the Crown calls for his services. A comrade in arms has been slain, and to complicate matters, the victim may have been a traitor. Now Lord John has not one, but two puzzling mysteries to solve.

Tried this based on the quality of Gabaldon's outlander series. Just didn't cut it for me. I won't continue the series. A bit of a bore for the most part.

Not for me

Lord John series is a splendid addition to the Outlander series. I have always loved his character, and I am enjoying hearing his perspective on things. This narrator is good, but it was hard to get used to the choppiness of this book. I suppose I am just used to Davina Porter's narration. This unusual style did not make the book any less enjoyable. Starting book 2 tonight!

Great Addition!

I like the characters in the book. The good one and the evil ones. Tom the the valet I really enjoyed. The store kept me guessing and made me stay up listening much to late on several occasions. It was worth it. On to the next book!

Jeff Woodman truly brightens brings Lord John to life! The plot was amazing and The reader never sees the twist coming is not passive as a result. It invites the reader to participate in a great mystery and learn about the 18th century at the same time.

Lord John is wonderful!!

Any additional comments?

I really am liking LJG. I liked him in the Outlander books, and I wanted to know more. He's a great guy, and he's always figuring out leads on mysteries and things like a detective of some sort. I love when he thinks of JAMMF. It endears him more because I too love Jamie and can't have him. I'm looking forward to more LJG. :)
BTW these books have a totally different feel than the Outlander series. I love Outlander, but these are great also, less magic more history.

LJG is a great guy
