Resumen del Editor

The follow-up to the quarter of a million-copy-selling Sunday Times and New York Times number one best-selling Clanlands. Sam and Graham turn tour guides once again to bring listeners more epic tales from Scotland.

A seasonal meander through the wilds of Scotland.

'If Clanlands was a gentle road trip through Scotland, this Almanac is a top down, pedal to the metal up and down odyssey through the many byways of a Scottish year. An invitation to anyone who picks up the book to join us on a crazy camper van exploration over 12 glorious, whisky fuelled months. Mountains, battles, famous (and infamous) Scots, the alarming competitiveness of Men in Kilts, clans, feuds, flora, fauna, with a healthy sprinkling of embarrassing personal reminiscences thrown in. Much is explored, all is shared. It is a camper van cornucopia of all things Alba.'

From First Footing to Samhain, Fringe Festival follies to whisky lore, Sam and Graham guide listeners through a year of Scottish legends, traditions, historical and contemporary events, sharing personal stories and tips as only these two chalk-and-cheese friends can.

As entertaining as it is practical, The Clanlands Almanac is a light-hearted education in Scottish history and culture, told through the eyes of two passionate Scotsmen. The perfect escapist guide, The Clanlands Almanac is intended as a starting point for your own Scottish discoveries.

Another Brilliant book Full of Shits and Giggles

If you don’t laugh most of the way through this book, you are dead inside.
The wit. The banter. The bromance. With bits of history, recipes, and facts sprinkled in for a full flavor fantastic story.

Educational and Hilarious

If you are going through Outlander withdrawal, you must listen to Clanlands and the Clanlands Almanac. I'm kind of a history nerd so I love the historical facts in both books but I've never had so much fun listening to a history book before! I started listening to Clanlands when I got up in the morning just because it would put a smile on my face for the rest of the day. I didn't watch Outlander from the beginning but when I found it on Netflix I immediately fell in love and binged watched the first five seasons. Season 6 came out just as I was finishing season 5 and I can't tell you how hard it was to have to wait a whole week to see the next episode. Watching the show peaked my interest in Scottish history so I went online to find a book that would teach me more about it. The first book, Clanlands, introduced me to Men in Kilts so I got a subscription to STARZ just to watch it. I decided to watch the show before listening to any more of the book in case there were spoilers. The show is fun but listening to Clanlands is like going to the lively after party. I wasn't sure it could get any better but the Clanlands Almanac is like leaving the after party with your best friends and listening to their hilarious stories about the nights events. It is hard to know where the truth ends and the fables begin but it is so enjoyable it doesn't even matter. If I could give Graham and Sam 10 stars for their narration I would. Their adept storytelling ranges from serious and thoughtful to convivial and irreverent. Clanlands Almanac is like listening to two brothers who know each other and their audience well enough to relax and enjoy the ride, while sharing meaningful Scottish history and traditions along the way.

I have never laughed so hard and learned so much

I am sure that this book is funny to read, but it is hysterical to hear!
Graham McTavish is a cast of characters all by himself. His stories are so irreverntly humorous, I can't stop laughing out loud.
Sam Hueghan adds some wonderful stories from his days as a young man in various towns in Scotland. It's.great to separate him from his character. He shares history like only a resident can.
Do yourself a favor and give this a listen, you will laugh until you cry!

Love Sam and Graham!

Sam and Graham are hilarious together! I was laughing out loud through the entire book. This was an enjoyable audible book and easy to listen to. Their voices make it great! Lots of fun facts and information about Scotland and you get to know a bit more about both of them.

Poor volume levels

This is a great book, hilarious vignettes (hunting haggis made me laugh til tears rolled down my face), sidesplitting commentary, and even some engaging actual information and history. But with the exception of getting to listen to hours of Sam’s sexy voice, and Graham’s uproarious accent impressions, the audio is very difficult to listen to. I don’t know if you call it audio quality, but Sam and Graham’s volumes change so much that you either miss the great sotto voce commentary, or your eardrums get blasted when one actor gets excited and very loud. Impossible to listen with earbuds/headphones, and even using speakers will give you a headache if you try to keep the volume up sufficiently to hear everything being said. I’m such an enormous Sam and Graham fan that I don’t regret listening to the book (more than once), but I’m hoping volume control is more consistent in their future audibles.

Ahh Don’t Be Done yet!

This is another great book by our or at least my favorite Scotsmen. Looking forward to what’s next!

Funny and educational

Scottish history mixed with booze, good-natured ribbing, and shameless promotion of the actors' works. If you've watched "Outlander" or "Men in Kilts," you will probably find the book more entertaining than if you just picked it up for a bit of history. The narrators are excellent.

Brilliant dialogue and epic storytelling

A must do read. If only they would let this side of them show in men in kilts. Their writing is epically witty and entertaining as it is informative. Although I enjoy men in kilts, it’s clear someone involved in production is not allowing them to let loose and show their true selves like they do in this almanac and in clan lands.
