Critic reviews

Winner of AudioFile 1996 Earphones Award, Mystery/Suspense

"This three-hour abridgment is riveting. Macabre sound effects, careful editing and chilling performances by Guillaume and Noth produce a viseral reaction in the listener. Though complicated and fast-paced, the story is easy to follow and hard to forget." (AudioFile)

Disappointment

This book is a copy of the movie not the book. The actual book was a truly suspenceful book. This book even changes who the bad guy is like the movie did,

Abridged Version is Terrible

Would you try another book from James Patterson and/or Robert Guillaume and Chris Noth ?

Yes,(surely, for the author, not sure for the narrators) but i hadn't noticed which type of version this was. Will only go with unabridged version next time.

Would you be willing to try another book from James Patterson? Why or why not?

Yes, but i hadn't noticed which type of version this was. Will only go with unabridged version next time.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Hard to judge. The edited version was done very poorly, which would impact the narrators' experience.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Kiss the Girls?

I think too many scenes were either omitted or cut short.

Any additional comments?

DON'T BUY ABRIDGED VERSION EVER…

Disconnected sub-plots, less than believeable

Not a good follow up to Along Came a Spider. They story ries to hard to be intriguing. It lacks creditability. Parts of the stroy don't make sence. Don't judge the series by this offering.

AVOID!!!

I wish I read the others! VERY poor abridgment! Skips WAY too much stuff. One second Alex is in a car talking to someone and in mid-sentence he is 5 miles away chasing someone - without a break. Very weird. The reading is pretty poor as well. I am extremely disappointed.

Poor Abridgement & Reading

I read this book for continuity in the Alex Cross series, but I was disappointed. Robert Guillame read with a quick staccato and with a "matter of fact" flatnes and timbre that was inappropriate for the character and plot. The book did not have the cadence and tension that other Patterson books have which might be related to the quality of the abridgement. Chris Noth's reading was superior to Guillame's, but the quality of the sections he read were undermined by the tacky sound effects. "Willful suspension of disbelief" was not possible with the audio treatment of this book.

Horrible Horrible Reading Voice!!

What would have made Kiss the Girls better?

A better reading voice!!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The story is good but it was hard to pay attention with such an awful voice.

Abridged stinks-musics detracts from story

What did you like best about Kiss the Girls? What did you like least?

Not sure-abridged version does not go much into detail of character-real overview.
Dislike unabridge but all that is available on Audible.co

If you’ve listened to books by James Patterson before, how does this one compare?

Loved the complexity of the story but prefer someone reading as opposeed to acting out.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Robert Guillaume and Chris Noth ?

Doesnt matter as long as not shrill voice

Did Kiss the Girls inspire you to do anything?

read another book

Any additional comments?

Really dislike music or noises and multiple voices acting out part. This is supposed to be Audible BOOK not PLAY ON TAPE.

Disappointed

I love James Patterson but this book was a disappointment; almost as though he was rushed to finish it. Enjoyed the sound effects and the narration better than the story.

ABRIDGED - skip it

Stupid me. I didn't notice that it was an abridged edition. Voice's are fine, background music was an interesting touch - but holy cow does the story jump around like crazy. Abridged=bad. Avoid it if you can, it's like reading part of a novel - you will not feel satisfied when you finish it since you can tell so much is left out.
