Publisher's summary

When homicide detective Gabe Quinn returns to the Los Angeles streets after the senseless murder of his wife Hope, he thinks he's fought off all the demons that life can throw his way. But his first case back may prove to be his last.

A repeat killer is in town. A killer who is on a personal mission to bring Gabe to his knees, luring him into a deadly game of cat and mouse.

With the body count rising and new killings popping up in Vegas, Gabe comes up against an FBI outfit eager to snatch the investigation away from him. But the killer hasn't finished playing with Gabe just yet. It's time to take the killings to the next level and make them even more personal. It's time to make Gabe pay for the mistakes of his past and choose between life and death.

One man stands in the way of murder.

One man will try to stop him.

Only one will succeed.

Could you kill someone to save countless lives?

Author's note: The backstory in Killing Hope continues into the second book Crossing Lines, and then into the third book Taking Liberty. To enjoy the whole nail-biting experience as intended, I recommend listening to the Gabe Quinn thrillers in numerical order.

Waaaay tooooo long....

I would have given it a solid 4, but for the fact that it was written to sucker the reader into buying the next book and then the next, etc.

Good Story

I can recommend this novel as being interesting and worth my time and a credit.
The narrator did a good job projecting the emotions of the text, and he has a pleasant voice. Being from the Appalachian mountains, I can say that the accent of the region was very well done. But the narrator does not do female voices well at all! His attempt was grating! I was reminded of a child doing a school play where female voice tone was concerned. Irritating but didn't take away from my overall pleasure in the production. Yes, I can definitely recommend this book.

Very entertaining

Maybe a little bit cheesy at times and wasn't mind blowingly fantastic, but really well written, and performed. I was very drawn to the characters, even the minor characters, and found myself really wanting to get to know them better. Immediately ordered the second in the series upon finishing this one.

Great story line narrator spot on

This is one of the best mysteries I've ever listened to. I read the authors other book Before I leap or go or something like that and this one must have cone later as his writing has improved. I'm ready to finish this review so I can dive into the next book in this series as I loved the characters and The Narrator who matched the authors profile as being fr Tennessee. Everyone will enjoy the twists and turns that this novel had and the climatic ending that was impossible to predict. So it's off to the next book in the Gabe Quinn series !! Woohoo !

Not a bad read

I was disappointed with the final twist. It didn't make sense to the story plot. There wasn't enough information leading up to it to justify it's appearance.

Intriguing throughout

This was much better than I expected. I could not put it down. I listened to the audible version, which I think really brings out the best of this book. My only complaint is that there was a lot of killing, but then, it is a detective story.

Brilliant

So far, this is my absolute favorite book ever. It kept me on the edge of my seat from front to back. The narrator that I listened to was absolutely the best narrator I've ever heard, can't wait to read the rest of the series

Love This Book

Would you consider the audio edition of Killing Hope to be better than the print version?

They are both fantastic, an edge of your seat thriller. Maybe the audio is a bit better because the reader makes it more real, adds a wonderful aspect, with just the right regional accent to pull you into the story.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Killing Hope?

The end, the twist. Can't say any more.

Which scene was your favorite?

Again, the end.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, each scene builds the suspense. Not necessary to listen all at once, but I would have preferred to.

Any additional comments?

Love this author's work and listening to it adds another great aspect to the story, making it easier to "see" the scenes in your imagination. Great beginning to a wonderful series.
