Publisher's summary

When a murder disrupts the Irish vacation she is taking with her husband, Roarke, Eve realizes that no place is safe - not an Irish wood or the streets of the manic city she calls home. But nothing prepares her for what she discovers upon her return to the cop shop in New York City....

A driver for a top-of-the-line limousine service is found dead - shot through the neck with a crossbow. The car was booked by an executive at a venerable security company whose identity had been stolen. Days later, a stunning, high-priced escort is found killed at Coney Island, a bayonet stuck in her heart. And again, the trail leads to a CEO whose information has been hijacked.

With a method established, but no motive to be found, Eve begins to fear that she has come across that most dangerous of criminals, a thrill killer, but one with a taste for the finer things in life - and death. Eve does not know where or when the next kill will be, or that her investigation will take her to the rarefied circle that Roarke travels in - and into the perverted heart of madness....

Crack another case with Eve Dallas.

Not as good as most in the series, read the others

If you're considering this as your first In Death read, don't do it. This is not the best of the seies and will not make much sense without the backstory on the various characters that appear in this book without apparent connection to the plot. Not enough Roarke either! The series, as a whole, is great. A few books only make it to the "good" level, but many are truly fantastic. Much of the pleasure comes from seeing the character development and learning more about their history over time. Ericksen is, as always, phenomenal. Yes, that IS one woman providing all those voices. Amazing.

Family ties

July 2060, for their 2nd anniversary we fi d Eve & Roake on vacation. I enjoy when they are around Roake's extended family. Great times only to end up with more deaths when they return home. J.R. Robb takes us on a fantastic ride. Susan Erickson gives her best.⚘⚘⚘

In Death Series

JD Robb had me hooked with the 2nd book in this series. I have spent most of my spare time in the last year listening to ALL of this series and I love all of the characters that have developed with each book. Mavis and Eve make the best if not the weirdest set of best friends!! And to see Eve develop from having no friends except Mavis into having a group of friends that are very diverse, funny, and I can picture myself right there in 2060 having a tube of Pepsi right with Dallas. Can't wait for the next book. Hurry up September!!!! And thank you to Jd Robb (Nora Roberts) for creating these characters to be part of my reading pleasure!!!

Another great book

Out of all the JD Robb books I have listened too, I think this ranks as one of my overall favorites. Also, Susan Erickson has done it again. Honestly, her narration makes these books even better.

Love In Death Series

I have read almost all the In Death series and I will say I can't live without my Roarke and Eve fix. I could only wish for a man like Roarke! I love J.D. Robb/Nora Roberts and have not yet found a book she has written that I have not enjoyed. I like the futurustic possibilities in this series that are believable. Susan Ericksen is GREAT!!! I have listened to her narrating other books besides this series and have enjoyed all . . . yet, I love the In Death Series so much that I keep thinking of Eve & Roarke while listening to her in other books. YEAH for J.D. Robb/Nora Roberts!

Selfish indulgeance

What an obnoxious pair of killers Lt. Eve Dallas has to contend with in this book. Another great read from the mind of J D Robb. Always a great storyline and strong characters. Serious moments mixed with thrills, suspense and bits of humor. Lt. Eve Dallas with the help of her aide Peabody, her squad and husband Roarke, must figure out the connections between the victims and more so the motive for their deaths. This book was a total attention grabber. The methods of death and the weapons used to kill were big factors in making this an awesome read. I highly recommend this one for all fans on the In Death series and author J D Robb.

An indulgence

I love the Eve Dallas stories. I believe they continue to get better as the characters start to gain depth. It is nice to see Eve getting a softer side to complement the bad-ass cop. Yes, the plot is a bit predictable...I mean this is like book 38. How many variations on a theme can you have, but it stays interesting. I have really enjoyed Susan Erickson's narration, I can pick up the story at any point and know who's talking. I would have liked to have "seen" a bit more of Mavis and Mira, but they have parts.
