Publisher's summary

From New York Times best-selling author Jana DeLeon, the seventh book in the Miss Fortune series.

A force to be reckoned with...

During missions as a CIA assassin, Fortune Redding saw and overcame most every obstacle, but Sinful, Louisiana, keeps producing new challenges for her. When a hurricane blows through, it brings a shower of counterfeit money raining down on the tiny bayou town. When the money is linked back to Ahmad, the arms dealer who issued the kill order on Fortune, everyone is worried that her nemesis is far too close for comfort.

When Ahmad's men turn up in Sinful, the situation becomes life-and-death for Fortune, Ida Belle, and Gertie, and Deputy Carter LeBlanc learns Fortune's true identity. As Swamp Team 3 rushes to locate the counterfeiter, Fortune hopes to take down Ahmad and free herself from her fake life. But will her relationship with Carter make it now that he knows the truth?

Ready for TV

Dana DeLeon's Gerty, Idabelle and Miss Fortune are perfect for a 2 hour TV movie maybe twice a year. They would certainly have a following once the first one is viewed. I don't often laugh out loud when listening to audible books, but I do with DeLeon's books and so does my wife.

I love this series!

Sometimes the publisher's summary tells too much! In this case it gives away the entire plot, lock, stock and barrel. So I started listening knowing exactly what would happen, but not knowing how the events would occur. Nevertheless, Hurricane Force, Book 7 in the Miss Fortune Mysteries series, is well worth listening to due mostly to the humor including funny situations. This is a marvelous suspense mystery series with lots of humor and a touch of romance. Cassandra Campbell narrates the entire series superbly.

6 Stars

This book was a perfect mix of funny, sad, and action packed. Hurricane Force is book 7 in the Miss Fortune Mystery series. This series is set in Sinful, Louisiana, USA and follows Fortune, who is a CIA assassin in hiding, and old ladies Gertie and Ida Belle, who are lifelong Sinful residents and ex-spy war veterans, as they help solve a string of various crimes and murders.

This book and the entire series is full of humor. I stumbled across these books when I decided to check out a new-to-me genre called Cozy Mysteries and someone recommended this series. Once I listened to the first book, I couldn't stop. I have been listening to all of the books back to back.

In Hurricane Force, a hurricane stirs up a whole lot of counterfeit $100 bills. Plus there is a murder to solve, Ahmad the arms dealer is closer than ever to finding Fortune, and Carter finally learns the truth about Fortune. Of course, the ladies jump into action to try to solve the case. The votes are still being recounted for the new town mayor because Celia won the election but someone had stuffed the ballot boxes, and of course, Celia is in control and making a mess of things while spreading her hate and negativity.

This book was different from the others in that there was a real emotional side to the story as Carter learned that Fortune is really a CIA assassin. I absolutely loved that we got more of the romance and heartaches that come with learning someone you care deeply for has been lying to you.

I recommend this series and suggest that you read each book in order as it builds upon the prior story and makes everything that much more entertaining and enjoyable. If you like your books with a nice dose of humor, this is the series for you. I have found myself laughing out loud too many times to count.

The same woman narrates all of the books in this series. She does a really good job.

Back to 4 stars

The last couple of books in the series have been pretty ho-hum. Same old thing and antics. Although this one doesn't deviate from the pattern of mayhem and "investigation," finally there is some evolvement in the CIA plot. I appreicate that some truth comes out and now the characters can further develop.

I really enjoyed this series! The interaction between Fortune, Ida Belle, & Gertie is hysterical! It's never boring that's for sure. I am sad that it's over.. Heard there's another book coming this Summer. Can't wait!

Finally! And, back to square one? Really?!

On the plus side, the chickens come home to roost and Fortune’s past and present collide. A few story arcs that started at book 1 close… but on the down side, there are story arcs that start all over again from square one. I get the need to keep churning out formula mysteries in a series that sells, but come on! Can’t some of the characters evolve? Guess not. Looks like next book will be the same old-same old, with Swamp Team 3 vs. everybody else. I’m not even sure I will continue with these as sale purchases. One book will be much the same as another from here.

Disappointed!

I "read" the stories for the happily ever after endings. An escape from the unhappiness of reality and I feel I have been mislead and promised something that was never delivered. Why lead the audience on and then in the last chapter end the relationship of the two main characters, if I wanted tragedy I would read Shakespeare. These novels are escapes. If the author needs advice or an editor more in tune with the target audience please let me know as I am a retired English teacher and feel I would do a better job than the current editor....at least I couldn't be any worse. Please let me know should there be another Miss Fortune novel that has an ending the audience might enjoy.
