Publisher's summary

A woman is found murdered in the woods with a very special watch on her wrist, and what seemed a simple case soon escalates into a nightmare. The criminal methods of some of the most infamous killers of all time are being replicated by a new predator who stalks and strikes victims with a cunning brilliance. No one can understand the murderer's motives or who the next victim will be.

Drawn into this violent affair are two Secret Service agents turned private investigators, Sean King and Michelle Maxwell. Both have been hired to prove a man's innocence in a domestic burglary involving an aristocratic, if dysfunctional, family. Soon, stunning secrets will lead the partners into the middle of a frantic search for a killer unlike any they've confronted before.

As the Hour Game barrels forward, Sean and Michelle face a macabre puzzle and uncover one horrifying revelation after another. Nearing the truth, they will find that their own lives are in danger. And then they're hit with the biggest surprise of all. When you play the Hour Game, you have to play to win. But time is running out...for all of them.

In Hour Game, best-selling master storyteller David Baldacci has created his most mind-blowing and satisfying thriller yet.

to monotone

I think if there was someone else reading it would have been better, it moved to slow and very little excitement

believe the hype

After reading this book David Baldacci now has made my list of author that I have to read. I found myself listening to this book late into the night. You think you know what is coming next, and find yourself in the dark once again. A must Read.

Twists and turns!

Baldacci is a master at keeping you on the edge of your seat. Just when you think you know "who done it", he throws you off entirely. Hour Game is full of interesting characters who hold your attention and charm their way into your heart, but be careful...you never really know who will turn out to be "just one tick off."

Mixed reaction

This is the second Baldacci I listened to (I really enjoyed Split Second). Like the writing style, pacing, and the narrator, but there are far too many incredible coincidences propelling the plot, and too many potential lines of investigation never dealt with. (The investigators somehow chose to follow up on only the leads that matter!) The plot weaknesses drove me crazy, and I skipped a few hours near the end just to get the torture over with. That said, if he does another book with these characters and this narrator, I'd probably give it a chance.

A GREAT WHO-DUN-IT

In the first book of the King and Maxwell series, [Split Second], I gave a rating of 3.0, because there were too many twists and turns. In the second book of the king and Maxwell series, [Hour Game], I gave a rating of 4.5. This book was much easier to follow in the overall plot of the book, in my opinion, was much better written and easier to follow. I'm listening to the third book in the series now, [Simple Genius], and I'm looking forward to another great book by David Baldacci.

EXCELLENT!!!

Exceptional read and the narrator remains the best in the business. The complexity of the plot line gave pause as it should and the beating peaks and valleys gave a complete fullness of the narration. Truly a joy. Thank you guys.
