Publisher's summary

You have good reason to be afraid....

It was a case that haunts Bobby Dodge to this day - the case that nearly killed him and changed his life forever. Now, in an underground chamber on the grounds of an abandoned Massachusetts mental hospital, the gruesome discovery of six mummified corpses resurrects his worst nightmare: the return of a killer he thought dead and buried.

There’s no place to run....

Bobby’s only lead is wrapped around a dead woman’s neck. Annabelle Granger has been in hiding for as long as she can remember. Her childhood was a blur of new cities and assumed identities. But what - or who - her family was running from, she never knew. Now, a body is unearthed from a grave, wearing a necklace bearing Annabelle’s name, and the danger is too close to escape. This time, she’s not going to run.

You know he will find you....

The new threat could be the dead psychopath’s copycat, his protégé - or something far more terrifying. Dodge knows the only way to find him is to solve the mystery of Annabelle Granger, and to do that, he must team up with his former lover, partner, and friend D. D. Warren from the Boston PD. But the trail leads back to a woman from Bobby’s past who may be every bit as dangerous as the new killer - a beautiful survivor turned avenger with an eerie link to Annabelle.

From its tense opening moments to its shocking climax, Hide is a thriller that delves into our deepest, darkest fears. Where there is no one to trust. Where there is no place left to hide.

The Narrator Makes This a Must Listen

Would you listen to Hide again? Why?

Maybe, one of the great things about this book is you have no idea what is going to happen. You can only get that kind of suspense on the first listen.

Which character – as performed by Maggi-Meg Reed – was your favorite?

Maggi-Meg Reed was so great at all of the characters, she is truly an astounding narrator. My favorite might be when she does the voice of an old school Boston detective, she just nails his character.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Reed doesn't hold back when the main character is emotional, she brings that emotion into her reading especially near the end. She chokes up when the character chokes up.

Any additional comments?

I will be listening to other audiobooks by Reed. I couldn't stop listening to this book.

Could not stop listening

Any additional comments?

This was one of the best books I have listened too. I really enjoyed the guessing game of who done it and did not see the twist coming at the end. If you like murder mysteries listen to this book.

Suspenseful

I thought the narration was done well and most of the story was very suspenseful, but there were also the parts that were just too far fetched.

Keep my interest

I listen while I work so I need things that are engaging but not overly complex or difficult to follow. This was a perfect blend of interesting storyline, well-paced story and enough intrigue to keep me guessing and interested without getting lost. I skipped the first in the series based on reviews of the audiobook and did not find myself lost. This book is more about Bobby Dodge than DD Warren, but that didn't trouble me. Not overly graphic and quite clean (just a few kisses). Just downloaded the next in the series.

Fantastic

Great story. I could not stop listening. Ignore the reviews saying it’s boring and spend the credit.

Great start, slightly disappointing end

What does Maggi-Meg Reed bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?

She fits the main character very nicely and rounds her out as a street-smart girl of the appropriate age. Only once in a while does she go over the top and make it a bit cheesy.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

All in all I listened to this start to finish with few breaks in between. It definitely had me hooked.

Any additional comments?

I skipped the first book of the series and went into this one instead. As criminal mysteries go it was pretty good. The gruesome murder had me hooked right away and guessing all the time as to who had done it. The police work was mostly believable, though a few minor parts seemed unlikely to happen in the real world. There were some very interesting plot lines merging together to keep me hanging by every word, but in the end I was disappointed by the whole
