Publisher's summary

Oliver Stone and the Camel Club return in number-one best-selling author David Baldacci's most stunning adventure yet.

An attack on the heart of power...
In sight of the White House...
At a place known as...

Hell's Corner.

John Carr, a.k.a. Oliver Stone - once the most skilled assassin his country ever had - stands in Lafayette Park in front of the White House, perhaps for the last time. The president has personally requested that Stone serve his country again on a high-risk, covert mission. Though he's fought for decades to leave his past career behind, Stone has no choice but to say yes.

Then Stone's mission changes drastically before it even begins. It's the night of a state dinner honoring the British prime minister. As he watches the prime minister's motorcade leave the White House that evening, a bomb is detonated in Lafayette Park, an apparent terrorist attack against both leaders. It's in the chaotic aftermath that Stone takes on a new, more urgent assignment: find those responsible for the bombing.

British MI-6 agent Mary Chapman becomes Stone's partner in the search for the unknown attackers. But their opponents are elusive, capable, and increasingly lethal; worst of all, it seems that the park bombing may just have been the opening salvo in their plan. With nowhere else to turn, Stone enlists the help of the only people he knows he can trust: the Camel Club. Yet that may be a big mistake.

In the shadowy worlds of politics and intelligence, there is no one you can really trust. Nothing is really what it seems to be. And Hell's Corner truly lives up to its name. This may be Oliver Stone's and the Camel Club's last stand.

very entertaining!

I have to disagree with some of the purists that have previously reviewed the book-I'm glad that I went ahead and downloaded the book. I am a big Baldacci fan and Camel Club fan, and although the Club is not as involved as we have seen in the past, we get a great view of Oliver Stone. Several new characters were very well developed. Probably not the best in the series, which is why I gave it 4 stars, but very entertaining nontheless. I actually enjoyed the female voices being read separately-it added to the experience. Well worth it!

Glad I didn't pay much attention to the reviews.

Yes, lots of plot twists but a good listen if you pay attention. Much of the narration takes place in Oliver Stone's mind, which makes the book even more interesting.

Twist and turns you never see coming. As always characters well defined . I love the audio books I'm at the office before you know it.

A Joy to Listen

If you could sum up Hell's Corner in three words, what would they be?

Action packed with mystery twist and turns

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes, as usually Baldacci keeps you wanting to keep listening

Which character – as performed by Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy – was your favorite?

Oliver Stone, this was my first audiobook of Baldacci that I have listen too but I have read the whole series. Ron McLarty voice came across as I would have expected Oliver Stone's to be (strong and confident)

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but 14 hours in on sitting is difficult.

Formulaic, re-hash of previous novels

The author presents more of the same from the characters. I will say that the plot was fairly innovative and contained a few surpises. My biggest complaint is there really isn't anything new....same old moves, outcomes, etc. If you havent read any of the previous camel club novels, this would be a decent on to start with though.

Hell's Corner

I'm a big Baldacci fan, but this one kind of dragged for me, as if the author just had to make it longer by adding more of the same.

Hell’s Corner

These comments reference the entire series of The Camel Club, at this writing consisting of five novels. Audiobooks, unabridged, all released by Hachette Audio from 2005 through 2017, lengths from ten to sixteen hours. All novels are narrated by Ron McLarty with the exception of Book 1, narrated by LJ Ganser. Typical Baldacci audiobooks, lots of music, sound effects, solid productions. Although there are no audio issues of note, the McLarty renditions are a cut above. Hell’s Corner narration includes Orlagh Cassidy reading the female voices - a nice touch. No trouble discerning who-says-what-to-who in any book.

Oliver Stone is a great character, a bit quirky, but a stand-up fellow who takes patriotism seriously. Oliver and his small band of close friends find themselves in defense of our country, themselves, and the right side of justice … you’ll enjoy rooting for the gang.

No gratuitous sex scenes, no objectionable language - clean reads.

Super adventures. Enjoy!
