Publisher's summary

The #1 bestselling phenomenon continues in the eighth Stephanie Plum novel. The stakes get higher, the crimes get nastier, the chases get faster, and the men get hotter.

This time Stephanie, Morelli, Ranger. Lula, Valerie, and Grandma Mazur are strapped in for the ride of their lives. Stephanie is hired to find a missing child. But things aren't always as they seem and Stephanie must determine if she's working for the right side of the law. Plus, there's the Morelli question: can a Jersey girl keep her head on straight when more than just bullets are aimed for her heart? And with the Plum and Morelli relationship looking rocky, is it time for Ranger to move in for the kill? Janet Evanovich's latest thriller proves that Hard Eight will never be enough.

Liked the Story - Wish the Narrator was CJ Critt!

What did you love best about Hard Eight?

This book has an interesting plot, with lots of twists and turns.

What did you like best about this story?

The shifting relationship between Stephanie and Ranger, and the addition of Stephanie's sister Valerie to the quirky family mix.

Would you be willing to try another one of Lorelei King’s performances?

Not in this series. C.J. Critt's comedic timing gave the characters in the Stephanie Plum novels "bounce" and made them LOL fun to listen to, and I miss that with Ms. King's performances (particularly for Grandma Mazur and Ranger, both of whom I thought were a hoot in the C.J. Critt narrated books).

Hard Eight is hilarious

This was a great way to kill 7 hours of commute time. Stephanie Plum with her family and cast of characters were delightful. The story was fast paced and had just enough sexual tension to keep it interesting. Her mishaps were both familiar and laugh-out-loud funny. And Gramma Mazur steals the show every time.

Substandard Narrator

After hearing CJ Critt narrate the first 6 books, Lorelei King leaves much to be desired. Still, the book as a whole is wildly entertaining. I love all Janet Evanovich novels!

Great Humor

I found myself laughing at some of the most unususal places. The action would be at a peak and the suspense just killing me and the characters would say or do something that made me burst out in laughter. I loved it.

Great read. Still getting used to the narrator

This story was the darkest one I've listened to so far, still full of laughs. Not big on the narrator as she sounds like a female James Bond, all sexy and sultry. For me, much of Stephanie Plum's appeal is that she's just a normal, average woman.

Classic Stephanie

Another great book by Janet E. The thing is, we like Stephanie. If you are looking for skin crawling creepyness or heart pounding terror and realism, go somewhere else. If you are looking for a good girl with a good heart trying to find her way in life, Stephanie Plum fills the bill. Lorelei King is a great reader, and brings Stephanie and her friends, foes, and family to life.
