Publisher's summary

New York Times bestselling author Charlaine Harris pens darkly inventive paranormal tales, including the immensely popular Sookie Stackhouse novels.

With Grave Secret, Harris returns to her beloved Harper Connelly series to deliver a thrilling mystery.

Ever since Harper was struck by lightning, she’s been able to see and hear the last memories of the dead. Going on the road with her stepbrother Tolliver, she uses this unwanted gift to solve crimes and bring clients closure. Now, besides handling a budding romance with Tolliver, Harper is on the trail of a particularly gruesome killer in rural Texas, and she must act quickly before more lives are lost.

A tale of dark desires and even darker intentions, Harris’ fourth book in the series shows why she’s become a household name in fiction.

Good conclusion

The narrator does a fine job of keeping up the tension throughout the story. Almost all loose ends are tied up. A satisfying conclusion to a fine series.

so sad it is over!!!!

Wow. the twists, the turns! Great series. I am just disappointed there are no more Harper Connelly OR Manfred Bernardo (already read the Midnight series) sagas left! Great characters, great storyline and the narration was terrific! I powered through both of these complete series (7 books) in one week....say anything?

Wonderful end to the series

I've really enjoyed this entire series. Harper is a complex heroine with great depth. The applies to Tolliver. Together they make a great duo and thanks to Charliene Harris for tying up all the loose ends. I was not expecting the twist at the end, well done! Highly recommend this series!

Satisfying Series Conclusion

I love this narrator. She does a great job embodying the characters without giving away too much (who is bad, who is angelic, etc).

This installment of the series closes out the primary mystery of Harper's family, and it has more twists/turns/red herrings than any book in the series so far. It was really fun to go along for the ride and make up my own theries about who did what/when.

I was a bit thrown about a major relationship shift in the 3rd book, and I wasn't sure I wanted to continue the series. While that part of the story is still a bit skin crawly for me, I'm really glad I decided to close out the story. The family dynamics and history come into this plot full force, and its fascinating to go down memory lane with Harper.

Wow, what an ending!

Charlaine Harris gives us all of the clues and subtle imaginings but I'm still amazed at the end. Great series! I'm really glad I got the audible books. In a way it was like revisiting Sookie (Harper) and Sam (Tolliver) with early Manfred from Midnight. Wow!!!!!!!!

Better & Better!

Each time I read another book on this series it keeps improving! I really like Manfred and wish he was a more developed character in the Midnight series!

Really liked this Series

Conclusion of this series. Got to listen to it if you've listed to the others in the series. This was a very captivating series, a great mix of supernatural and believability. Still not my favorite reader because she sounds too old for the age of Harper Connelly, but I adapted.

A breath of fresh air from Charlaine Harris!

Where does Grave Secret rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I really enjoyed this series and once I listened to the first one, had to get the others! I enjoy stories with a supernatural edge and this one creates the story without getting really weird.

What other book might you compare Grave Secret to and why?

It reminded me of some of the Dave Robicheau novels because the story is so rich in detail and the characters are described so intricately. It describes the characters thought processes that lead them to their actions, which makes the story more suspenseful and interesting. You know what that character will probably do, based on their thoughts and previous actions, but you are always waiting to see what happens next.

What does Alyssa Bresnahan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her portrayal of Harper Connelly is so accurate. You feel like you know her and her personality and if you saw her on the street you would recognize her!

Nice wrap up

I too am glad to have all the story lines neatly connected. But the story is a bit convoluted. And I’m sorry that this is the last Harper Connelly mystery.

Oh, and who dunn at least part of it seems pretty obvious tbh.
