Publisher's summary

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • THE BLOCKBUSTER JACK REACHER SERIES THAT INSPIRED TWO MAJOR MOTION PICTURES AND THE STREAMING SERIES REACHER

“High-powered, intricately wrought suspense.”—Janet Maslin, The New York Times

New York City. Two in the morning. A subway car heading uptown. Jack Reacher, plus five other passengers. Four are okay. The fifth isn’t. And if you think Reacher isn’t going to get involved . . . then you don’t know Jack.

Susan Mark, the fifth passenger, had a big secret, and her plain little life was being watched in Washington, and California, and Afghanistan—by dozens of people with one thing in common: They’re all lying to Reacher. A little. A lot. Or just enough to get him killed. A race has begun through the streets of Manhattan, a maze crowded with violent, skilled soldiers on all sides of a shadow war. For Jack Reacher, a man who trusts no one and likes it that way, the finish line comes when you finally get face-to-face and look your worst enemy in the eye.

“Propulsive . . . [Child is] an expert at ratcheting up tension.”—Los Angeles Times

“Hold on tight. . . . This novel will give you whiplash as you rabidly turn pages. . . . May be [Lee Child’s] best.”—USA Today

Take another thrill ride with Jack Reacher.

Critic reviews

“The ever-resourceful and vengeful Reacher takes on nearly a score of the bad guys in an exciting climax to an enthralling book . . . complete with cover-ups and numerous intriguing twists.”Library Journal (starred review)

“A superb New York novel . . . Child grounds his hero’s hard body and hard-drive brain in believable detail, and he sets the action against a precisely described landscape.”Booklist (starred review)

“All good thriller writers know how to build suspense and keep the pages turning, but only better ones deliver tight plots as well, and only the best allow the reader to match wits with both the hero and the author. Bestseller Child does all of that in spades. . . . [He] sets things up subtly and ingeniously, then lets Reacher use both strength and guile to find his way to the exciting climax.”Publishers Weekly (starred review)

A twisted, tragic, action packed story

Gone Tomorrow is a twisted, somewhat tragic action packed tale of terrorism and torture with Reacher kicking butt like usual. Highly entertaining with some haunting moments.

My favorite of this series so far

The story is has many of the same Jack Reacher elements, but it differs in the complexity of the story - and some of the plot twists I haven’t seen in prior novels.

A New York state of Jack Reacher

Gone Tomorrow is Lee Child's 13th Jack Reacher novel. Riding the subway in New City, Jack eyes a passenger giving off all signs of a terrorist bomber. When Jack attempts to talk with her, she kills herself with a handgun. What ensues is a complex hunt by a nebulous Federal agency, the New York City police, a private security firm, and shadowy foreign nationals all searching for answers and a memory stick of unknown significance with Jack the center of everyone's attention.

This edition has the classic Jack Reacher both in terms of solid detective work as well as physical and weapons combat. The plot doesn't actually unfold as much as branch out and evolve in different directions. At the same time, Jack seems to be fighting nearly all sides with alliances continual forming and dissolving.

Dick Hill's narration is another gem. His rendition of Jack Reacher is spot on and his range of voices is superb. His tone and pacing is perfectly aligned with the fast pace and nonstop action that makes for a quick, but eminently satisfying listen.

One of the best Jack Reacher books

The reader is the same as always, Dick Hill, but his pace of reading is so slow for the first couple of hours, I thought something was wrong with my iPod. The book grabs you right away and then there are a couple of hours of the plot being slow, where things just don't make sense. Then towards the end of Part I the book ramps up and you won't want to stop listening. This is Reacher at his best Great read (listen)

fantastic story

Loved the audio book, when I started to listen to it I thought I wouldn't enjoy it because the way it was narrated seemed very slow and wierd, but when I got into it, I really enjoyed it, amazingly good story. Several times I got home from my walk (I listen to audiobooks while I take a walk), I decided to go for a bit more of a walk because the story was so exciting.... !!! great stuff.

Another good Reacher Story

Would you listen to Gone Tomorrow again? Why?

Yes it was worth it

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The plot was very interesting

What about Dick Hill’s performance did you like?

Very good

Any additional comments?

I had to listen to it the second time once I was finished so I could pick up all the detail I had missed. Very good listen and was exactly what I expected in Jack Reacher.

A good listen

Where does Gone Tomorrow rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

A good listen. I have been on a Reacher kick lately and have faded a touch with Gone Tomorrow. Over all a good book that would recommend.

Have you listened to any of Dick Hill’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

As always Dick Hill does an amazing job
