Publisher's summary

Things are going well for Lieutenant Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels of the Chicago Police Department. She has solved some of the city's toughest and most high-profile homicides. Her personal life is finally in order. Her friends and family are safe and happy. And she just got a call that eased her mind like nothing else could: Alex Kork, one of the most dangerous criminals Jack ever arrested, killed herself while in jail.

But things sour quickly when a group of vigilantes on a murderous spree decide to take down a cop and the people she cares about…and they turn downright awful when Jack discovers that Kork may not be dead after all. The next eight hours will be the worst of Jack's life. And that's saying something. Fuzzy Navel is perfect for listeners who like their mysteries with a shot of humor.

"A particularly potent mix of equal parts mirth and mayhem with a dash of sex and a twist (or two) of plot...Konrath's latest should be taken straight, no chaser needed." –Publishers Weekly
"A well-shaken mix of action, humor, suspense, and sharp dialogue." Newsday
"A phenomenal thriller that never disappoints." –Lloyd Woodall, Borders Group, Inc., Ann Arbor, Michigan
"J.A. Konrath has done it again. I've read every book, and I still want more." –Norman Goldman, Barnes & Noble, Encino, California

Great listen -

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This a great little series, I've enjoyed the entire Jack Daniels series. I like a strong female heroin. The story moves quickly with great humor.

Have you listened to any of Susie Breck and Dick Hill ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I feel the narrator can make or break the listen of any story. Breck & Hill are good & their performances make you really know & like each character.

Non-Stop Violence and Vulgarity

I had never read such depravity. Maybe, that’s why I read most of this series. Of course, it helped that the characters were interesting and likable. It also helped that there was a good plot with real evil villains. So, even though I’m usually not into the gore and constant profanity, I liked this series. I really enjoyed the tough, lead, protagonist.

Highly recommended.

Favorite book in the series

I love the way this book is written. The story occurs in a matter of hours. Fast pace. Reads quickly. suspense throughout. story is told from multiple characters point of view. Feels like you are right in the middle of the action. If you want a story that takes you away.

laugh out loud funny

What made the experience of listening to Fuzzy Navel the most enjoyable?

The situations that Jack gets involved with is simply gripping. This time she brings all her friends into a real sticky situation.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes. Never know what else Konrath will throw at you.

Which character – as performed by Susie Breck and Dick Hill – was your favorite?

All of Breck and Hill's performances are great. They are truely part of the series at this point.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

on or off the rocks

Tired of the Same Villains

What did you like best about Fuzzy Navel? What did you like least?

I really am tired of the same villains over and over - I am bored with her. I think the same one is in the next book, so taking a break for now.

If you’ve listened to books by J. A. Konrath before, how does this one compare?

It is ok, not great - tiring at some points.

What about Susie Breck and Dick Hill ’s performance did you like?

They did a great job.

Could you see Fuzzy Navel being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Please, no.

Addicted!

I started this series less than a week ago and I cannot stop! I have been burning through chapters and books, day and night. I'm losing sleep because all I want to do is find out what happens next.

Thank you, Mr. Konrath! It has been quite some time since something has just hijacked my attention this way!

Jack is the first female cop character that hasn't felt utterly gratuitous and condescending -- in many years.

Harry is too much fun and it is so easy to fall in love with/be deeply disturbed by everyone in Jack's world.

The narration is excellent! Justice has been done here. Mr. Konath's work surely deserves an equally compelling performance and Susie Breck and Dick Hill deliver.

I have never once felt like I was being "read to" or that something was monotonous or lacking. Dry narration will put me off of a series permanently and fast. The only thing missing for me are more hours in my day to keep listening.

Can't wait to start to Cherry Bomb!

Not as good

A number of humorous quips that you expect to have in a Jack Daniels novel, but the overall story was just okay, partly due to the narration. All the male voices sounded similar and the female voices were nearly impossible to differentiate; it became very confusing at times, the story lost momentum and my interest waned. Hope the next story in the series is better.

even tho I LUV this series

I've thoroughly enjoyed everything I've read from this author and enjoyed the narraters , personally I found this this book slightly disappointing.

The action was good, the plot was good, the characters were good and the narraters were good, the story want the Dame add the rest.

on top of 3 new shooters one of Jacks nemesis returned. personally I felt add to this is a cliffhanger drawing you into the next book in the sites, not that is a bad thing, it was just unexpected.

I only gave it 4 stars since it didn't live up to my expectation. I am, however, glad I have it a listen/read since it probably continues into the next book.

Lots of violence, but good story telling & emotion

Audio readers are excellent! Great emotion. Lots of violence, almost to the point of super human characters that defy reality, but the story certainly moved along with good pace & interest.
Disappointed by the cliff hanger ending - who did the villain shoot?!
Over all, I do enjoy this author's work & look forward to reading more by J. A. Konrath.
