Publisher's summary

For Will Innis and his daughter, Devlin, the loss was catastrophic. Every day for the past five years, they wonder where she is, if she is - Will's wife, Devlin's mother - because Rachael Innis vanished one night during an electrical storm on a lonely desert highway, and suspected of her death, Will took his daughter and fled.

Now, Will and Devlin live under different names in another town, having carved out a new life for themselves as they struggle to maintain some semblance of a family.

When, one night, a beautiful, hard-edged FBI agent appears on their doorstep, they fear the worst. But she hasn't come to arrest Will. "I know you're innocent," she tells him, "because Rachael wasn't the first...or the last."

Desperate for answers, Will and Devlin embark on a terrifying journey that spans 4,000 miles from the desert southwest to the wilds of Alaska, heading unaware into the heart of a nightmare, because the truth is infinitely worse than they ever imagined.

Definitely Kept My Attention

What made the experience of listening to Snowbound the most enjoyable?

Interesting story that kept my attention trying to figure out where this was all headed. Also enjoyed the narrator.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Probably the female 'FBI' agent. I enjoyed trying to figure her out.

Which character – as performed by Jeffrey Kafer – was your favorite?

The daughter.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not really. It's a quick listen and I never found myself wandering off while listening to it. However, no real strong emotions.

Interesting in the beginning but confusing ending!

Struggled to finish!! Confusing ending with all new characters towards end and it went fast!

Some problems in story but gripping anyway

The storyline was a little hard to swallow but I literally didn't put the 'book' down until it was over. A lot of 'aww come on now" moments when people bounced back from horrific assaults to their bodies, or ventured into life threatening situations w no apparent fear but overall a fun gripping read.

Good Story (in between books)

This was a good listen. It wasn’t an exciting story, but it held my interest from beginning to end.

just okay

although it was action packed I felt there wasn't very much depth to this one . def not crouch's best work and I have read most.
it was worth a listen though as it does keep you interested throughout but character development was lacking and I was never emotionally tied to any of the characters

fun

If you don't ask too many questions then it's a fun story. I like the writing and the characters are good, they are a bit cliche but not unforgivable so. there are a few issues but most I can ignore because it's fast paced fun. I do have one I have to maon about... lol.... mild spoiler but given the title it's not really giving away anything, clearly they end up isolated in a snow covered area...obviously lol So the spoiler is that it is in Alaska and they take a float plane out into the wilderness. they have no gear and tell the pilot that they have no camping experience. no Bush pilot would take a man woman and child and drop them off in the most remote part of the state in WINTER knowing they have zero outdoor experience. it would be wildly irresponsible and no one in Alaska would do that.. unless they were crooked and/or paid a lot. so I wish that had been addressed. I have family who has lived out there for decades and they laughed at the idea. They say it's bad enough with the people who have proper gear and outdoor experience but have never been to Alaska before. Also it is required to have a gun capable of taking down a grizzly or polarbear, which they had hand guns but not long arms. The other major thing ...although had no bearing on the plot (pun may or may not be intended) is they are told that the bears are getting ready for hibernation and therefor very active and dangerous when there is already snow on the ground, or will be in the next couple of days. at this point the bears would already be in their dens. it was way late for any grizzly bear to still be out and about and they weren't close to polar bears (guns still required though in any season). So I wish the author would do more research but it looks like he puts out A LOT of books. this is the second one I read. they are fast and fun but definitely not the great American novel! lol

An ok story that became somewhat muddled.

The book began well enough. But midway through, when we learn what is going on, it became somewhat muddled and it lost me. The ending was good, I would have liked more in the 2nd and 3rd acts. Some of the character choices are very questionable.
